Cheesecake

Is it a Cake or a Pie???

(We did a debate on this in my AP English class last year xp )

Personally, I think it's pie.
Why? Because it has a crust, like a pie.
So what if it has cake in the name! Names can be deceiving.
Ask any cook or chef and they will tell you that cheesecake is a pie.

Also, there's a little bakery near my house and it's very popular.
It's called "Cheesecake Magic".
Do you know what they sell at CHEESECAKE Magic?
Cheesecake and PIES! NO CAKES!

My opinion is that cheesecake is a pie.

But um.. On-topic, it can be either. It depends on the shape, really.
My sister's made them in pie crusts before.. They can also be made freee-standing like a cake, as long as they don't melt.

Cheesecake is made of a crust and filling so it is a pie, but there are many variations of cheesecake and not just the ones we see in American bakeries or produce marts. To me, it's like a custard, maybe a brulee. (I adore brulee!)

not all chees cakes have pie crusts... acctuly non, pies also have fruit filling, not a batter with chees in it (ok mor like cheese with batter in it if you call that a batter).

Haha just bugging, but seriously. I think for the most part it is a pie, just commonly mistaken for a cake much like koala's are mistaken for being bears. Also, on what Pailzor said.. I've made mini freestanding cheesecakes before at school in my cooking class. there was still either graham cracker crumbs or a Nilla cookie at the bottom and it was made in those little muffin papers. So I'm not sure how you would classify that.
