I never hear my mom stop complaining about the price of gas lately. Even at school, my friends feel so frustrated at how much it costs just to fill their tanks. One of my friends has said the problem is really crushing our ecconomy. I don't have a car yet, I'm still working to get my permit, so I can't really have a justified opinion about it. However, I'm intrested in what those of you with cars have to say about it.

Well, I can tell you this. Our world is beginning to run out. That's the first clue. Humans have been using those cars for maybe nearly 100 years. Sooner or later we have to use energy. If there is no more gas, that's the problem. That's why they make it more expensive. Currently, there is some kind of prodject that's going to use energy or solar power instead of gas.

For now, I recommened you to buy a fuel efficent vehicle for now. But it's your call.

You're just finding this out now? It's been going on since our dumbass of a President declared war. Well. I don't know what to say. As of now, gas prices aren't my problem. I don't have a permit. Hell, I'm not even 16. But the gas prices are a real bummer. Shows us how lazy America is and how incapable we are of caring for ourselves. We get so much imports from so many countries. Is it so hard to manufacture our own products and work instead of having the Phillipines, China, or Mexico do it for use?

Gas prices are a myth, end of story.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 11, 2008 3:23 pm

I would stand in line for this

If we`d stop dicking around in Iraq and Afghanistan, they`d go down.

My idea :: Bomb the s**t out of them and continue using the oil just the good `ol days.

That and if we`d stop buying gas from that communist gas company in Venezuela.

x__P o e t's idea: An incompetant radical right wing view that would not only spike up the oil prices, it would turn the entire world against us. Seriously, bomb those places out and we may as well just give up on oil, OPEC would shut our asses down like in the 70s. The good ol' days will never come back with that plan. Oooh never buy from that Communist gas company in Venezuela? I love that one, if you didn't notice we did stop buying from them (Exxon-Mobil and ConocoPhillips) and now look, nearly a dollar up from last year when we stopped. And what the hell are they Communist for? Because they are taking back what belongs to them so that their wealth doesn't go to other countries? Is that it? They can do what they want with their stuff as they please. Its our fault for making them angry and attempting to overthrow their government back in 2001. Did you think they wouldn't pay us back? Seriously, its our fault completely that we're in this mess and your solution will only make it much much more worse.

To add to what I just said I would also like to point out that there is never a greater incentive to get out of this oil is king mentality. The spiking prices are going to only get higher and the Middle Eastern, African, and the Latin American countries are realizing this. They aren't stupid (though we portray them like they are backwards people), and they will drain as much as they can from us before we turn to alternative fuels, not only that but they are penny pinching to the point of they themselves finding alternative energy for their people so they can sell more oil for high prices (Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela). We are in a terrible predicament in the Western world, and in order to maintain a sense of power we must remove ourselves fromt these dependencies on oil and natural gas. We must stop listening to lobbyists that want to delay the inevitable and get to work on new more clean fuel sources, if we do not then we will be in a tight corner in terms of economics. The dollar is falling, the price for oil is going up, European countries are either appeasing these Middle Eastern countries, trying to find solutions to the oil rich African rebellions, giving up majority rights to the Orinoco, or finding alternative fuel sources. We either do the same or prepare for a recession in all markets that hasn't been seen since the Depression and the small recession during the 80s. The dollar is falling, the prices in all markets domestic and foreign are going up, and people are not getting raises to cover the costs of a spike in prices. We are in a multi-billion dollar fiscal gap and we're here worried about Britney Spears and her problems. I can gurantee that this next election in the U.S. will be the one to decide for us whether we maintain our top status as a country or fall before the economic might of the dominating giants and rising powers like the Four Tigers, Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, the uniting left wing Latin powers, and an increasingly angry Middle East. Putting our money in other countries like Israel because of some twisted philosophy is not going to help us as a country, if anything it will help us crumble further, because I can also guarantee that if we fall these "friends" as we call them that use our resources for their own country's gain will not help us. Nor should they if we as the people in America couldn't see plainly what has come to pass.

Its your own fault for not wanting or not having the attention span to read my points. This is supposed to be an intelligent debate, not some one sentence crap. I've presented my argument in a clear concise manner if nobody wants to read it then they forfeit the debate simple as that. Don't expect to come here and think that everyone is going to give a small speech and thats it. The reason its called a debate is for intelligent discussion. However for your sake I'll bring it down.

x__Poet's idea is bad, and ethically, socially, and politically it is twisted. We've tried something similar once and we got 9/11 based on the "official" report.

Is that better for you Mike the Gimp or would you like it down to four words for your viewing pleasure?

This is what I think is.

1st I know are gas prices are going up because we are wasting presious gas to use other resources Just to Say! get more sciantists and make diffrent fuel efishent ways to never use gas ever in cars again. and coal mills Stop using coal for goodness sake its bad enough that the ozone layer is getting really bad and its gonna turn earth like venus whitch is so hot. just think of china there air is so bad u need masks and Ppl this is the 21st centry we got hybrids and biofuel and hydrogen and really made out of water so just buy those and change habits I am changing floresant lightbulbs so I don't have to pay. thats it ppl get the picture think now for the world and the children of the future. 3nodding

the gas prices are preety high
PostPosted: Sat Sep 20, 2008 11:19 am

It is a combination of things going on right now. Sure, the war in Iraq is not helping, but bombing them will make it worse. We already spend so much there as it is, we need to leave. Also, the fact that it is getting harder to get to oil and finding it. I do not think it should be drilled off coast or in Alaska. If one of the rigs off the coast breaks or leaks, the economy will feel it. A few weeks ago, three off-coast rigs were destroyed, and there was another spike. We can blame the president and the government, but that is not all we have to blame. We have to blame ourselves for growing so dependent on oil so that in order to build hybrid cars, we need oil, and that though there are people starving on the streets in our own country, we are using ethanol to drive Hummers to work. God forbid we think about the third world countries who have been living on poverty and have never seen cars or factories.
