Dance? Anyone?

i'm just wondering how large the gaian dancer community is. but, hey! let's make a thread out of it!
what types of dance are you in?
how long have you been dancing?
if you're in ballet, are you vaganova, r.a.d., legat, cecchetti, bournonville, balanchine, or other?
what's your favorite kind of dance?

currently, i'm taking modern dance, ballet, and tap class.
i've been dancing for eight years, now
i'm mostly r.a.d., but my teacher is...different
my favorite kind of dance is probably ballet, but maybe tap


and, just a little tidbit of fun:
if you know who john straley is (he's an author that lives in my town, rather well known in america) his son just left for college at a theatre school, and his roommate is....baryshnikov's son!!! it might not be a big deal to some people "oh, yeah, i know someone who know's someone who's related to baryshnikov..." but it's pretty big for me
AND, (there's an and) a doctor in my community is planning on having a "dancer injury workshop" where all these big wig dancers and doctors come to talk about dance and how to treat what injuries and whatever, and he's planning on inviting baryshnikov! at first he said it just jokingly, but then when he found out that his son was finn straley's roommate, it might possibly be slightly conceivable that he might come!
and even if it's totally impossible, i can still hope!!!

I used to have no
cordination at all really...
but since I'm in Color Guard,
we've been doing a lot of ballet.
My jazz runs are so pro! :]
I suck a** at anything more
than a double Pirouette...
(and I have to drop out first~
I can't really go straight into the second.)
and my coach can't stand
my wobbly grand plie.
I have a weird point as well,
though its improving~
But my releve is very nice because
I have such long legs. xD;;

When I was small I took some Traditional Dances lessons,later some rock n' roll and salsa dances,I tried ballet for few years,and modern.

Now I'm Irish Dancing. smile

I used to have like.... Jazz, Tango, and Brazilian dance classes when I was younger.
But I don't do it anymore xD
I mostly just dance in clubs and all, and I practice some choreographies from any people that have interesting dances, like... some J-pop, Britney Spears, Madonna etc.
I can move pretty well, and have a good sense, so I loooove to go out dancing during weekends with my friends, like, must have my dancing fix <3

Srta Tap Dance

i agree
during the summer, i didn't dance at all, andi felt terrible! but once school started back up, and along with it, dance, i started feeling better, and i got sick less often. maybe i should start dancing during the summer.....

I was SUPPOSED to take ballet when I was 3..but the first class was canceled and my mom never took me back. ;~;
I could be an awesome ballerina now...

Ah well.

I wish to take some sort of ballroom with my bf. <3 I know he LOVES to dance, and I enjoy it myself...

Well I used to take dancing classes with my sister a coupla years ago....*a real while ago* but then we stopped going. So I just like dancing free style in my spare time...and of course bumping into rough edges on the wall or the table or the chair, or falling on the floor occasionally sweatdrop sweatdrop but other than that, i'm ok!!!
