I think the problem here is that people think Buddhist enlightenment is some little light clicking on in your brain.

It's all just a way to train one's self to be content and satisfied in avoiding anger and frustration, and helping others. Not to knock it, though. If that's what makes you happy, you're quite the asset to the world.
