so i was rereading the chapters where kaname killed shizuka.
and i noticed that the chess piece that kaname stabs at the end was a queen.
so that made me think, "oh, that's because shizuka was the pureblood queen."
which made me think that the king would represent kaname.
then i thought that the knight is also a piece and in the title of the manga.
so who does the knight represent?

any theories?

Wow, that's very, very interesting...I never thought about that. Now I'm thinking...

Here's my theory: I think that the knight actually represents Kaname. Shizuka represents the queen, and since she was (formally) engaged to Rido Kuran (Shiki's father), then Rido would be king. The Council seems to think so...

The knight could also represent Yuki, since Kaname saved her long ago, so in a way she chose to serve him...

I'm sticking to my first theory though. I'm more sure on it. *^^*

i also just thought that there are TWO sides in chess. so therefor, two queens, kings, etc.

so kaname could be the good king and rido the evil king?

Oh yeah I noticed that too. I actually went back to the past chapters where they show the chess and it foreshadows some stuff.

I think that Yuki would be the knight. Just a guess.

I hate to say this... but I don't think Yuuki is the knight. If you're brave enough to keep reading, I applaud you! haha

I see Kaname being the real knight, since he has been protecting Yuuki from the very beginning, even though she didn't remember him.

Keeping with the chess theory, the knight protects higher-up peices by strategically taking out peices on the other side, so that would possibly make Yuuki the Queen/King peice. Remember how Rido always refers to Kaname as the fake heir/ fake king? Also, Kaname claims that he will act like a Queen bee. This signifies that he isn't the real ruler, but just pretends to be.

Anyway.... That makes Zero the pawn, because Kaname seems to be using him, too...

On the other side, I guess Rido and Shizuka would be the king and queen peices, and Ichiou would be something like a Bishop. o_O I'm not too certain about that, though.

I think Kaname is the knight, because he is protecting Yuuki so that would make her seem more like the queen figure. And yes, since there is a black and white side to chess that must figure in. So there must be an opposing king and queen trying to rule over.
