(This takes place after Lee's arm, leg, and back were shattered by Gaara, this is also changing the plot line to make it as if he couldn't be completely healed. Please feel free to comment the story as well.)

"Feelings of the Broken-Hearted."

Let it all out
get it all out
rip it out remove it
don't be alarmed
when the wound begins to bleed

"One-hundred ninety seven...!" grunted a once green clad nin, he was now eighteen;
Yet, Tsunade found she could not completely heal him--making it so he could not fulfill his dream.
He found himself powerless--nothing.
His old sensei and father figure, Gai, had given up his own ninja-hood for him and still worked with him every single day,
hoping to help him as best he could.
But now, the shadows hung low in the sky and he worked hard on his own.
"One-hundred ninety-eight...!"
Only two more push-ups, if I cannot complete them then I will have to do three hundred squats!
Sadly, he found himself collapsed and too tired to even move to pick up his crutch and hobble home.
Once again, he was going to have to sleep at the training ground--
He was barely ever sleeping at his own home due to this behavior.

cause we're so scared to find out
what this life's all about
so scared we're going to lose it
not knowing all along
that's exactly what we need

and today I will trust you with confidence
of a man who's never known defeat
but tomorrow, upon hearing what I did
I will stare at you in disbelief
oh, inconsistent me
crying out for consistency

"Lee-san, what are you doing here?" came a quiet, worried, female voice.
He looked up to see the angel of his dreams, Sakura, he couldn't answer,
he was too embarrassed. "Why are you doing this to yourself?"
she asked crouching beside him voice. "Let me help you get home..."
She sighed when she received no answer.
She lifted him to his feet almost entirely on her own
(seeing as she had the strength of Tsunade)
and grabbed his crutch, then, helped him home.
"You shouldn't over work yourself like that..." she sighed.

He gave no reply only nodded, holding back the silver-y wet sparkles in his eyes.
"Lee-san?" he shook his head and smiled as she helped him into his house.
The walk was long ans slient--the silence was almost unbearable
but Lee loved to be with her and he was too tired to speak.

and you said I know that this will hurt
but if I don't break your heart then things will just get worse
If the burden seems too much to bear
Remember
the end will justify the pain it took to get us there

As Lee watched her go he felt that same strong longing for the girl,
he loved her but she loved Sasuke and that was simply how it would be forever.
He would die alone and unhappy while she would wind up the same--
he knew Sasuke would never return but he hadn't the heart to say this to Sakura or her comrades.
He knew it would kill them inside and they would deny the truth of it all;
so, he watched quietly at the sidelines with the others--
waiting for one of them to finally shatter and it hurt him to do so.

and I'll let it be known
at times I have shown
signs of all my weakness
but somewhere in me
there is strength

He hobbled into his apartment and put of some special tea to help him sleep--
he wasn't going to sleep with those awful thoughts lingering in his mind.
He waited, for it to brew, not looking at the kettle due to the fact as he always went by 'a watched pot never boils'.
Instead, he went to clean himself up and take hot bath, then changed into his pajamas.
By the time he was done the water was ready and he dipped his tea packet into it and let it turn reddish brown;
before dropping an ice cube into his tea glass and taking a sip.
He sat on top of the counter as he drank, waiting for a sign of sleepiness to creep up on him.
He was just about to go to bed when there came a knock at the door.

and you promise me
that you believe
in time I will defeat this
cause somewhere in me
there is strength

"Chotto matte kudasai!" He called hoisting himself up and off of the counter,
taking his crutch, and hobbling to the door unsteadily.
It was probably Gai-sensei but these days he let himself in--
maybe the door was locked and Sakura had put the spare key inside when she dropped him off?
No...He opened the door.

There she was, weeping before him;
that pink vision of beauty was now a train wreck.
"L...e...s...n!" she choked out in a sob.
He quietly ushered her inside and into the living room to sit with him.

and today I will trust you with the confidence
of a man who's never known defeat
and I'll try my best to just forget
that that man isn't me

He reached for a box of Kleenex and offered it to her,
she hastily took the box and he wiped the tears from her eyes with his thumb.
"Sakura-chan, what's wrong?" he asked quietly,
but he knew what it was without her telling him.

and you said I know that this will hurt
but if I don't break your heart then things will just get worse
If the burden seems too much to bear
Remember
the end will justify the pain it took to get us there

"H-he r...lly...s...n't...oming...b..ck...s...he?!" she sobbed into a Kleenex.
Lee frowned, watching the girl beside him so broken was painful,
he didn't even have the heart to answer.
Instead he pulled her into a comforting embrace and stroked her hair trying to soothe her.
"I-I worked so hare t-to get him...I...I...l...ve...him!" she sobbed.
"Why'd....he...leave...us?!" he frowned,
a few of the tears emerged out of his eyes, the tears from his broken heart.
He'd known all along that she loved Sasuke
but he never gave up on her no matter how much it hurt.

reach out to me
make my heart brand new
every beat will be for you
for you

"Sakura-chan, I promise you that if Sasuke does not come back,
I will take care of you just as you wished for Sasuke to do."
he told her seriously, but in quiet tones because he was afraid he might give himself away.
He thought it painful how much he loved her and how much she loved Sasuke.
How could that b*****d leave such a beautiful angel?
"I can't offer you as much as he ever could but I will give you everything I have." he promised.

and I know you know
you touched my life
when you touched my heavy heart and made it light

She nodded but there was no response. Eventually, from the tears, she'd fallen asleep in his arms, clutching him back in the hug.
Lee smiled a little and closed his eyes, resting his head on hers and leaned back against the sofa.
Maybe he'd ask in the morning, maybe in a year, or maybe never again,
but he would always be by her side when she needed him most and he wouldn't leave her.

Owari.
