They call me the mask collector,
Or rather, the mask maker.
Whichever you prefer.
All of the masks are extravagant,
Possessing their own personalities.
I find myself at times with too many of them.
I use them when I meet different people,
Since my friends all prefer one mask over the others.
And each time I use one, a new part of my face is exposed.
This one tells them all my darkest secrets,
How I made love to that one girl from 3 years ago.
About how I didn't give it a second thought.
Another mask denies that ever happened.
Another one claims his faith to the Christian religion,
He believes that he knows the bible in and out.
Surely he will go to heaven.
Another mask thinks otherwise.
But I've come to a realization!
More masks have been created recently.
Some that show parts of my face I hadn't intended.
We laid on the couch,
watching a movie that neither of us cared about.
Her hand crept closer to mine.
She lifted up the mask.
I felt the exposure to the light
and I didn't care for it one bit.
I was afraid.
I put on a new mask and left the couch.
I'm afraid my collection is becoming too big,
I quite simply can't keep up.
It's too much.
And now the greatest realization has come to me.
Have I ever looked in the mirror... without a mask?
