xbrandiix Adorable! Is there any way I could get the pattern?
You know, that probably would help. It's done from memory with a lot of customization, so it's easy to tell!
You need;
Normal Weight Yarn in whatever colors you like (about one skein will usually do) Size 7 or 8 strait knitting needles Size 7 or 8 double-pointed needles, 3-4
I don't know gauge, but I've never had one turn out poorly no matter what yarn/needles I used.
Steps:
1: Cast On 10 stitches in foot color 2: Work 10 rows or until your foot is as long as you want it - write down how many rows it was 3: Change to pants color: Work 15-20 rows, or until it's the desired length- write down how many rows it was 4 razz ut these stitches on a holder, unless you're like me and worked two at once. If you didn't, make the other one. 5: For the crotch, knit 15-20 rows, again, write down exactly how many 6: For the shirt, knit about 20-25; write down how many Here's a good time to work in any number of inarsia patters; I find that sock patterns work wonders, but it's extra fun to get out some graph paper and design your own, since you know it's about 20X20. 7: Switch to head color and knit for about 5-5.5 in.
8: Now, do it all backwards! Look at the numbers you wrote down to see how many rows you need to knit for the shirt, pants, legs, and feet. You'll have one scarf-like piece.
9: Now, add a face with buttons and embroidery. There's really no wrong way to do this.
10: Pick up 8-10 stitches where your head and shirt colors meet, on the shirt side, for sleeves with the DPNs. Do this on both sides (16-20 stitches) 11: Knit 20 or so rows, however long you want the sleeves to be, in the round- write down exactly how many 12: Switch to hand color, knit 5-10 rows, until it looks right- again write this down 13: Repeat on the other side for the other arm 14:Sew up the sides of the head and stuff. 15: Sew the rest of the body together and stuff. 16: On the top of the head, bunch up the fabric until it looks like ears, and sew in place- this part just takes practice 17: For hair, thread the needle with yarn that you want to be your hair color. Go as if to sew, but leave a tail the length you want the hair to be. Tie it to the yarn still on the needle like you're tieing a shoe-string, double-knotted. Cut the yarn attached to the needle the same length as the tail. Repeat until the whole head has hair. 18: Enjoy your new doll!
I'd love it if other people posted pictures of their Blargas!
