Plot:

Struggling for oxygen, Quartz scratched and kicked at the ensnaring weeds of the ocean floor. She looked up at the taunting light trickling in through the waves above and stared, dazed, as it grew steadily darker. Losing consciousness amidst the very element which had always brought her comfort, she felt something clawing viciously at her arms and legs. This last ounce of shock and fear caused her to black out entirely...

"She is awakening, love. I can feel it," said a soothing voice from above.
"Ngh.. Wha," Quartz inquired hazily.
"Aye, you were right," exclaimed a more masculine voice. "How are you feeling, young one?"
Quartz rubbed her eyes weakly and allowed her vision to regain its strength. Hovering above her were two beautiful, seemingly Human creatures. She then realized that she was still submerged within the cold waters of the Sapphiric Main, yet she was no longer fighting for her life, nor were her eyes were affected negatively by the waters. In fact, everything around her suddenly appeared to be brighter and clearer than it had ever been before. Her peripherals soon caught sight of a soft glistening light and she looked down to drink in the full appearance of her saviours. In place of legs, each of them boasted a smooth and flexible tail, sheathed in glimmering scales. The merfolk exchanged smirks in response to the girl's awkward display of amazement, and the man spoke to her once more, "Young one? Are you all right?"
Startled, Quartz quickly looked back at him and nodded, "Yes, sir. Sorry, but I just don't understand.."
"We found you struggling in the weeds and cut you free," said the woman whilst displaying her impressive webbed claws.
"But only after granting you the ability to breathe within the sea," added the man.
"What," exclaimed Quartz as she sat up swiftly.
"We could not save you in time," the woman explained, taken aback by the girl's outburst.
"We also believe you to be the one who shall rescue our hidden city from destruction," said the man as he subtly took the hand of the woman.
The woman smiled at him and he returned the gesture before turning back toward the girl. "You must find the sacred gemstone of our ancestors and rescue us from being devoured by the ancient megalodon."
Quartz heaved one last sigh and fell back, unconscious yet again.
