We aren't great at everything
Just state something you need help on
and give advice to the person above you
simple enough

There's obviously no one above me,
so I'll give advice to myself:
connect your passe[spelling?] to your knee

never rest in your heels, and keep your weight in the balls of your feet.

always engage your glutes/butt muscles, and work your turnout from your hip sockets, not your knees.

i ask for advice on big jumps/leaps

try to get a deeper plie if you want a higher jump
If you just want a full split you just need to stretch more

I need advice with my arebesque

A strong back and lower bum will help your arabesque.

Keep your arms up and don't let them sag....It makes all the difference in the world (wooo the only thing I'm decent at). Also, get a good start. Like if you're in 5th position to start, go as soon as you passe.

Advice on....turn-out gonk

when you turn out think about your heel
The audience should always see it.Also
think about knee being to the side

Always make sure that your box is all the way on the floor, and if your in second make your position smaller so that you can do so.

I need advice on pirouettes en pointe.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 06, 2008 4:31 pm
try to get up on your box as quickly as possible in the turn and center your weight over the box, and don't forget any tricks and tips from doing it in regular flat ballet... (that's the best advice I can give-- sorry if it's not really good-- pirouettes are one of the few turns I'm good at in regular ballet, and our teacher set us to learning them en pointe and I could do them, not perfectly obviously, but passably even the first time, so I'm not sure exactly what advice to give)

turns other than Pirouettes, and Fouettes (stuff like chaines I cannot do! ugh!)

Find the stretches that are the most difficult or hurt the most and focus on them. Also try to stretch every morning and every night.

I need help on improving turnout.

Remember to pull up and out of your shoes, and get over your box, focus your eyes on an inanimate object e.g a poster. Does that help?

I need help on remembering to pull up in knees and back

what I recently started doing, was either looking at my eyes in the mirror, or finding something very bright (or dark, depending) something that stands out from it's surroundings. And sometimes, I just stand there and stare at that one thing for about a minute, that way it is in my head, so I know what to look for.......hope that helps! smile

I need help with ways to strengthen my leg muscles........I am having trouble rolling onto my platform because my leg muscles aren't strong enough.
