Foreword on the Vampyres
I have chronologued here some of the most notable and deadly vampires which I have come across in my ongoing studies and continual search for the truth. Vampires surround us in society, as I have noted in various other texts. Here, I reference some of the most deadly, infamous, or ancient vampires known to society.
Their arts are dark and ancient, their secrets darker still. Before you even notice, they've crept in for the kill.
I, Alloden Garthry, have dedicated my life to studying the truths behind these creatures, and I am afraid that what I am about to reveal in these pages will undoubtedly seal my own death warrant. Let the truth be passed to you, so that the cause may carry on. My life is of little consequence, now...

Baali Caine and Lilith begat Baal. A militaristic family, the Baali are the strongest physically of Caine's children. The Baali perceive humans in a somewhat neutral light, seeing them as subordinates who offer their blood in service. The Baali rule over Falacia with total power which is not questioned. The Baali suffer eternally under their cursed sin: wrath. As such, they often veer towards misplaced aggression and can easily overreact. Through meditation and deep focus, older vampires can control this burning fury, but a curse from God himself is not easy to resist. The Baali posses the clan discipline of pyrokinesis, giving them control over fire.

Ravnikus Ravnikus was the youngest child of Lilith and Caine, but also the most covetous. He was insanely jealous of everything that his brothers had. His children reflect the burning envy which he was cursed with. Ravnos vampires hate and are hated by all the other vampire clans. It rarely comes to bloodshed, but they share incredible distaste for each other. Though often the other clans try to suppress them, the Ravnos' desire for what others have has led them on an eternal crusade for power. They are a highly aristocratic, disdainful lot, who can never bear to be shown up. A Ravnos would rather die than be proven to be the lesser man. It is not uncommon that they do in their pursuits. Most Ravnos are temperamental and refuse to trust anyone. As a Ravnos vampire grows older, their envy for others only grows, however, they learn to direct it more efficiently. The elders of the Ravnos clan understand that they must vest trust in their children and pass on their gifts, although it still leaves a burning pain of jealousy deep in their hearts. The Ravnikus bloodline possesses the ability of power tap, allowing them to temporarily steal the abilities of their victim.

Lasombra Lasombra was the second-born of Caine. Though Ventrue was the alpha vampire, Lasombra by far is the most commonly associated image of the vampire. A dark and emotionless creature, his affinity for unsavory acts knew no bounds. His power over darkness and Abyss was unequivocal. Lasombra cared little for religion, although he found much in common with Satan, who furnished his search for dark knowledge. He grew so bold as to question the authority of God himself. Indeed, by this time, Lasombra had become a force to be reckoned with. His control over Abyss, the very tool of creation, was astonishing. God, wishing to pacify Lasombra and punish him for his sins, cursed him with Sloth. Apathy became the norm for Lasombra, and it was so intense for him that it grew to the point where he could no longer even move. Legend has it that he lives on, his flesh turned almost to granite, lost in time somewhere as a stunning statue of a petrifying man. His children retain that which their father had, the strengths and the weaknesses. The curse of Sloth breeds apathy for everything, and very often Lasombra choose to disconnect themselves from the troubles of society. Many Lasombra are nomads of time and space, drifting between the realm of shadows and our own. As Lasombra grow older, their curse turns from a mental state to a very physical one. Lasombra become as their progenitor, their skin slowly toughening and taking on a stone-like texture. Though they live on, their minds are often deeply withdrawn in the shells of their bodies. Based on the resolve of the individual, an elder Lasombra will emerge from their dormancy every century or so, to feed and regenerate themselves. The majority of them lose their willpower with time, and reach a point where their apathy is such that they no longer even wish to feed. Lasombra are the only clan which cannot cast a reflection. Also, they are even more sensitive to sunlight than other vampires. For all their disconnection, Lasombra are very intelligent, charmingly mysterious individuals. Their powers are exceptional compared to most other vampires. Lasombra possess the power of Abyssal magic, giving them control over the domains of shadow and matter.
Notable Clan Members:
Ikken Isshu Gaia Username: Ikken Isshu
Character Name: Caecus
Clan: Lasombra
Age Class: Mature Vampire
Age: 177
Appearance: Having always been tall and thin, Caecus' appearance often brings to mind a thin sapling, young and spindly, not physically powerful, but aspiring to become more. This is a mostly accurate appraisal, though his strength is somewhat enhanced due to his vampiric nature. Caecus moves silently and rarely presents anything but a smooth appearance. In life, Caecus, an Italian, was a very vain man, who placed a great deal of value on his appearance. He has since lost a great deal of that vanity, but ironically, he has become even more beautiful. His skin is smooth and fair, his hair dark and clean-cut, his eyes deep, lush shade of lavender.
Personality: Caecus is quiet, soft-spoken, and thoughtful, not the type to get up and do much unless absolutely necessary. His interests lie not in people or even vampires, but in thought and philosophy, and he has spent nearly half his vampiric existence searching for answers to his soul's questions. In people, he values an open mind above all else, though he disdains people - especially modern people - as a perversion of all that is good in the world. Very often he can be found in a deathlike trance for days or even weeks at a time, dwelling on corridors of thought that most people - and vampires - simply shrug off. In these periods, he tends to rise only when he needs to feed, which is not often, as he has mastered the ability to ignore his own bloodthirst for a very long time.
Biography: When the War began, Caecus was still a young man, a distinguished film actor; and the War was in its final stages when Caecus himself was turned. Over the intervening years between then and now, Caecus became furious at the world, at his fate, for stealing from him his carefree existence as a mortal. He used to be free! He used to be alive! He used to live in a world where mankind was the master of his environment! And now, here he was, stuck in a hellish dystopia, surrounded by people who would kill for a bit of gold, a bit of technology, an edge over their fellow men. Caecus eventually decided that this world wasn't worth wasting his emotions on, so he tried to shut himself away from it, interacting with it only as necessary. He has not been completely successful in this, but he is nevertheless capable of presenting a disturbingly emotionless facade to the most horrifying of spectacles.
He is also something of a masochist, though in a more artistic than sexual sense; his dwelling is full of all the traditional weaknesses of vampires, some of which are genuinely harmful to a vampire and some of which are not; garlic hangs in cloves, crucifixes from all different periods of history adorn his walls, holy water peppers his shelves in decorative bottles. More than traditional vampiric weaknesses, though, he also has a fondness for religious artifacts. The aforementioned crucifixes are prominent in his abode, as are representations of the Star of David, prayer beads, artistic representations of the Holy Lance; and his bookshelves are almost completely dominated by religious texts, including many different versions of the Holy Bible, the Torah, the Quran, and many, many more.
Notes: He's gay. Because I feel like it. wink But he has no qualms about using his vampiric nature and beautiful face and body to seduce members of either sex.
Chibi-Teddo Gaia Username: Chibi-Teddo Character Name: Tuluth vi Montresor Occupation: Inventor, scientist, head of the council of Artificial Life Robotics, head of council of Robotics Archaeological Research Clan: Lasombra Age Class: Elder Age: 217 Appearance: The look of a young man who is much older at heart. His face is ever-so-slightly bony and angular, yet very smooth. He has the face of someone in his late 20s, but his sunken eyes and thick, serious eyebrows betray the facade. He has the familiar tall, lanky appearance of a vampire... however, he has developed a habitual slouch which makes him appear far shorter than he truly is. He has wiry black hair down to the bottom of his ears. His eyes are a deep auburn color, very close to black. He is somewhat anemic in appearance and performance, and is often correspondingly weak, as he rarely brings himself to feed. Personality: Biography: He was born to a pair of high-blooded Lasombra nobles. His parents died in the Holocaust, however. His memory of his life before the armageddon is hazy at best. Though he was not killed, he suffered greatly from the radiation poisoning. Because of his strong vampire regenerative abilities, he was able to recuperate. However, it caused irreperable damage to his brain, killing off most of his original memory cells, essentially giving him incurable amnesia. He does, of course, remember many fragmented pieces of his life before that time, though most of them are so jumbled that he can't make sense of any of it. The effects of this have left characteristics such as absentmindedness, scatterbrain, daydreaming, and mindblanks. While these are common among Lasombra, they are generally found in vampires much younger than him. By 200, most Lasombra can shake off the more crippling mental symptoms of their curse.
He has since taken residence in the 'Red City', living a bit restlessly under the constant annoyance of the Baali clan, who take offense to the presence of nobles from outside clans. He rarely leaves his home, however, and spends weeks at a time poring over books, schematics, or machines in his workshop or study. Forgetful of the world around him, he may go days without moving a muscle. Often he is not even thinking about what is before him, but rather caught in fragments of the past. Often he sits for so long that he will collapse from lack of blood.
8 years ago his previous housekeeper died of old age. 3 years ago, he finally got around to hiring a new one. Clover was the first person he managed to find, and opted for the quickest solution. Luckily, she is an admirable servant. Of his large mansion on the outskirts of the Vampire Ward, he only uses 2 or 3 rooms, giving the girl free reign over the rest of the house. Her responsibility is essentially to take all responsibility for him, like a mother. She keeps the mansion from falling into disrepair, keeps the cobwebs out, keeps the cellar stocked (mostly for her own survival), and oversees his finances whenever he is required to pay tax contributions to the city. Furthermore, she is his only connection with the outside world. She is the only person he really encounters on a regular basis. In addition, she takes the responsibility to keep the two councils he controls from collapsing, sending telegraph orders to his numerous offices across the world. Notes:

Malkavian Malk was the third-born of Caine. In a word, Malk was completely neurotic. Quite possibly schizophrenic and sociopathic, A Malkavian is most well known for his rampant murder sprees and unusual bloody rituals. God, willing his insanity on the rest of society as retribution, cursed Malk with Gluttony. Now the Malkavians are little more than psychotic killers. Their constant desire for blood and death only serve to further the instabilities which the family already possesses. Almost all Malkavians are mentally insane, and the handful that aren't feel no need to justify their sadistic actions. The Malkavians are the only vampire clan which does not hold substantial political power. They are generally outcasts of vampire society, although some less moral groups put them to use for their own twisted goals. Malkavians are masters of blood magic. They use both their own blood and the blood of their victims to produce powerful magical spells, usually enhancing the destructive power of the caster.
Notable Clan Members:
Ikken Isshu Gaia Username: Ikken Isshu Character Name: Eric LaRoche Occupation: N/A Clan: Malkavian Age Class: Young/Mature Age: Approximately 100 (as a vampire); he stopped keeping track about ten years after he was turned. Appearance: Of average build and average appearance, Eric is not the type to draw stares or even second glances from anyone around him. His hair is brown, as are his eyes, though they have an unusual pinkish tint. His skin is not even as surreally smooth as most vampires; lack of blood does make him very pale (though he rarely goes an entire night without feeding several times), but his complexion is far from marble or stone, being more like the average human in that respect. When lucid and sane, his short hair is either combed back or to the side, but when he lapses into his bursts of what he calls 'inspiration', it can be flung wildly anywhere. Personality: His madness - for like most of his clan, he is indeed mad - comes in swells, and in his more lucid moments, one would almost never know he was even a vampire, let alone a Malkavian. But the depravity of his insanity goes to deep, deep levels, and as such, whenever it emerges, someone is almost certain to die. Eric is extremely fond of toying with his food, and he fancies the blood tastes better when it is taken in fear. He has committed acts which only the most placid and zenlike could forgive, and he will commit more - and worse - before his time on this earth is up. Biography: As far as anyone knows, Eric showed up in Falacia about twenty years ago. He's periodically appeared around town since then, always in the midst of some scheme or other, always repulsing the vampires who became aware of what he was doing. He doesn't associate with other Malkavians because he finds them crude and disgusting, but he doesn't associate with any other vampires because he finds them haughty and snobbish and stupid. Instead, he surrounds himself with humans and, oddly enough, a Lycan who he has been toying with for over a decade now. Notes: Eric's deeper motives, if he has any, are an absolute mystery. Periodically he enacts some scheme which doesn't seem to make any sense at all - but then, he is insane. His bloodlust and the delight he takes in fear know no bounds. He has even fed on several vampires in the past, for he loves the thrill of 'raping' someone on his own level, one of his own kind.

Ventrue Ventrue was the first-born son of Caine. Greedy and covetous, he believes that it is he who should inherit the world. He sees everyone else as nothing more than property that is meant to serve him, and he will do with them as he wishes. Ventrue was cursed by God to have no limit to this greed. In a way, Ventrue was also cursed with other sins as well. For with the desire for more of everything comes more gluttony and lust. Ventrue are probably free of envy, however. For unlike those that wish to have what others have, Ventrue simply want everything, and generally have far more than everyone else. Ventrue are guided completely by greed. As they grow older, the need for more grows exponentially. Older Ventrue can sometimes be driven mad by their obsession, becoming paranoid and lording over their vast holdings. Ventrue are the highest social tier of vampire society, simply because of the fact that they are always seeking more power and resources. Ventrue possess the power of telekinesis.
Notable Clan Members:
Alaundria Gaia Username: Alaundria
Character Name: Morena Laurent
Clan: Ventrue
Age Class:Mature
Age: 120
Appearance: ((picture to come)) Morena is of average height, about 5'4". She has shoulder length dark chocolate hair that is smooth and curly, which she usually keeps in a loose Victorian upsweep. Her cute button nose is balanced out by a pair intelligent chestnut eyes, which often have devious intent hiding behind them, and glow amber when she thirsts. Her skin is pale and soft, a result of her meticulous toiletry and her obsession with staying beautiful. She is never seen in public without copious amounts of makeup on. Her makeup is always perfect.
Personality: Morean is sensible, responsible, and a meticulous perfectionist in everything she does. She is very mature, even for her age and race, and has a very low tolerance for silliness and frivalry. Impatient and bossy, her imperialistic ways often earn her more enemies and friends. She is very attractive, and over the years has become exceedingly vain, often inviting the ire of her female companions. She is manipulative and cunning, and not at all above using the people she cares about the get what she wants. Morena has little use for men, or romance in general, feeling that emotions only cloud an otherwise level head. If Morena does show any prolonged interest in a man, it is only because he tastes better than the rest. And Morena's tastes frequently change. She is known for going through lovers the way some women go through pairs of shoes. She has a great love of fine wine, clothing and jewelry, and is unashamedly materialistic. She puts up with the daily headache of "babysitting" her cousin Renault, her polar opposite, and finds his carousing difficult to bear.
Biography: Not yet released.
Notes: Morena develops a nervous twitch in her left eye whenever she gets angry or frustrated, which is usually when she does not get her way.
