In the past few days...well actually just in the past I have received more then multiple scam attempts via phishing links.
How do you know if its a phishing link and not a harmless link?
Scroll over the link but don't click it and look what it says at the bottom of your page -
*does it say www.gaiaonline.com with no miss-spellings?
If it does not have correct spelling then it is a phishing link
You accidently clicked the link now what?
*Does it ask you to log back in?
*Does it ask just for your password?
If so DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT type in your username or password, Instead close your web browser and do a scan of your computer to see if there were any cookies grabbers that have latched onto your computer.
What is a phishing link?
A phishing link is a link sent to you that send you to a page that looks like gaia online however it asks you to re-log in, and we all know if we open a new tab or window in the same web browser we shouldn't have to re-log in...so Dont re-log in...simple
Whats a cookie grabber?
This is an evil thing that latched onto a computer and can see what ever your typing and it can get all your personal info that you have saved on you computer on any web browser, such as account details, banking details, passwords, sites you go to frequently ect.
Hence its good to always scan your computer and to remove any threats if found.
I hope this may help you, or better yet that you already knew this and didn't need this typed out for you because you were already aware of all this info.
one last thing:
NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PASSWORD TO ANYONE
even if they claim to be a mod or admin.
Actually mods and admins do not need to ask you for your password because its on record...so DON'T HANDOUT YOUR PASSWORD...EVER
