The musty air of the alchemy laboratory filled the Count's lungs as he continued work on his new plague. He labored over ancient books written entirely in mystic runes, searching for the means to carry out his unholy deed. He paused and looked up from his work to gaze upon the bottle of vile green liquid that he had worked on for so long. A sinister smile crossed his lips as he dreamed of the power his creation would give him. At the early stage it was in, the plague could only infect a single person, and didn't have the strength to be transmitted but when complete he would be able to infect a million cities! And they would all be surrendered to his will...
but every second spent dreaming about his power would be a second lost that could be spent achieving it, so he resumed his search. A few hours went by and his gaze once again turned from his tomes towards the portrait of his departed wife, Amy. She had fallen ill from an experiment he had conducted while formulating the early version of the plague. She had wept for hours on end while the Count had been transfixed in his work. She finally passed away, and the Count made her a grave in the courtyard of his mansion. He had wept for a while then returned to the mansion to continue his studies. It was at this moment when the Count had lost his humanity and became nothing more than a mindless drone on the persuit of power.

As he looked upon the portrait, he felt something he had not felt in a long time...was it sadness? Mourning? It had been so long, he had forgotten what emotions felt like. Then the darkness that had corrupted his soul took hold again and he went back to his texts. Not long after this, he heard a disturbance somewhere in the Laboratory. "Who goes there?!" Shouted the Count as he reached for his sword, which he always left by his desk. He, of course, would have lost against the most feeble of swordsmen as the years of sitting at his desk had made him pale and weak. Another sound from the darkness! "Reveal yourself!" The Count warned once again. He got up and crept across the room, sword held high as he searched for the unknown intruder. Walking was a laborious task for him, as he had only gotten up to fetch another book or twisted ingredient. Suddenly, the Count sensed something behind him. He begun to spin around and face the culprit, but it was too late for the unknown face had thrown him down to the ground. As he lied dazed on the ground, he saw a man dressed in a black hood and cloak took the Plague on the Count's desk then walked back over. The Count saw the man's face as he knelt down besides his head. His skin was dark and tattooed with odd symbols, and along with his hood and cloak he wore a long-sleeved tunic and trousers; and also long leather boots and gloves; all of them black. The man spoke in a deep voice "You think you can control an army of fallen angels, but how will you manage to live as one?"

The man opened the vial and poured the liquid over the Count's face, making sure none of it touch himself. When the vial was empty, the man rose and departed to an unknown destination. Meanwhile, the Count felt the strength he once known return, even expand, to an inhuman level. His skin turned from pale to Grey, and his eyes became crimson red like the morning sun. His canine teeth grew into fangs and he finally arose as a fallen angel. He grabbed his sword and summoning tome, and left his Laboratory for the first time in 3 years. He walked down the twisted stairways and the long but decorated hallways until he was outside. It was raining, and among the raindrops he spoke in a crackled and inhuman voice. "To hell with the plague, I have all of the power I need!" From the summoning tome he called forth a black dragon, which was about the height of the Count. The dragon flew around the newborn Count and then awaited his master's orders. "You will be my companion, and together we will take this world!" Grinned the Count. Then the Count closed his eyes and sprouted a pair of black wings from his back. "Now, let's get started..."

And with that, the Count took flight and along with his dragon set out for the world on black wings of darkness.
