Liszt, we have all heard Hungarian Rhapsody II, thoguh you may not recognize the name but im alsmost sure you have all heard the friska part. tell me what you think of Liszt.

Wasn't the friska part in F# minor? I think we all know the F# major part for sure.

Anyways, he rocks. There's no denying it. I'm sure while not many people know the Liebstrume no. 3, I'm sure it's one of the first pieces of Liszt that others recommend. I would say the Totentanz is my favorite Orchestrated piece by him, and his sonata is my favorite Piano piece.

You'd think I like Liszt, what with the screen name and all. He's a big "meh" in my book. Love liebestraume no. 3, love "Jeux D'eau a la Ville D'este," but I find his orchestral works just so heavy handed.

For me, it's all about his piano works. One of my professors loves loves LOVES Liszt, and made us listen to all of orchestral works in our symphonic poem class. They're so terribly pretensious, I can't stand them...

Have you seen all the piano players sweat like crazy trying to play his Transcendental Etudes? My fingers feel like they're going to tie up into a knot from watching it.

well I am absolutely in love with Liszt's Liebestraum no.3 ... learning it right now! It is one of those pieces that I MUST learn how to play, because to not do so would be missing out =P

I adore Liszt. I'm not a pianist myself, but my older brother is, and he was clearly enamored with the man's work. For awhile, most of what he was playing was Liszt.

I love Liszt's piano music for so many reasons. It's harmonically beautiful and almost has a mystical quality about it sometimes. And the manipulation of the keyboard that is present in so little music, the requirements of the pianist...it all comes together in music that is so easily identifiable as Liszt's work. I remember learning Totentanz...and it's still one of my favorite pieces to play today. I usually play the solo arrangement.
