So this isn't the conventional text I'm alluding to, however, what are your favorite genres of books, and what are some of your favorite books to read? Do you have a favorite author or a writer that inspires you? Do you prefer to read online text opposed to paperback or do you not read altogether? Do you have a favorite book, hmm??? Do you like naughty books? whee

Hmm... I've always read in the past, Goosebumps was a huge hit for me growing up, but once I reached like 12 I got over books and havent read much since. An excellent book I'm currently reading is Musashi by Eji Yoshikawa, and I'm enthralled when reading it whee

(Where's the middle ground in the poll? You're either falling asleep with it in your hand, or not reading at all? XD )
What are your favorite genres of books? SciFi...humor...adventure... What are some of your favorite books to read? A lot of Manga...the Dirk Gently series...the Eragon trilogy...Lord of the Rings...some of the old Star Wars novels...Dune... Do you have a favorite author or a writer that inspires you? Heinlein is awesome...David Sedaris is a humor master...Twain is also excellent... Do you prefer to read online text opposed to paperback or do you not read altogether? Paperback when I can get it - I use books as my portable entertainment, since I've dropped and broken everything electronic... XD Do you have a favorite book, hmm??? Heart of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad. Not SciFi, not humor, but definitely a psychological adventure tale, describing a period of exploration barely remembered nowadays...and a still-relevant tale on many levels... Do you like naughty books? whee Porn?...or hentai?...or romance novels? Nah...what's the use? ;3

Um.. falling asleep w/ a book in hand can be a good thing, or a bad thing... I've fallen asleep in the middle of the day reading history books for school cause it was so damned boring; as well as fallen asleep with the book I read in bed to focus on one thing and tire me out in a good way sweatdrop

astroninja1 my favorite book is The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide, which is the compilation book for the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series. it contains all four canon books plus three bonus books! I saw the movie which was pretty interesting. I have to say as far as book choices goes, that's definitely a nice one. I bet it costs quite a bit less then buying all of those other cannon books seperately...

A book thread??? Actually I don't remember ever checking out this subforum. ^^'
Anyway, I love many different books, but my favorite genre is definitely science fiction...Heinlein, Asimov, Gibson, and Herbert [Sr]...so good! Dune is so epic... heart I've been trying to find some really good new science fiction authors.
A second favorite genre of mine is fantasy [not surprisingly, I guess]. Although I like many less fantasy books because the genre is pretty tied up in its own conventions...[and most of the books are boring/cliche/bad]. But not George R. R. Martin's...his are amazing.
Anyway, yeah. Sometimes I feel as though I should read more books that actually have literary merit. ^^'

You should read "The Lovely Bones." It's a story about a girl who is raped and murdered, by a woman who was raped. She tends to write a lot of rape stories I found out... But it's supposedly a good book; they're even making it into a movie. I read it a few years ago and I thought it was ok, but it wasn't as entertaining as The Hobbit or anything like that :/

I read fantasy and historical fiction for fun and profit.
Currently though, I'm wandering through Kim and Jane Eyre on an on and off basis.
Although my favorite author will always be Terry Pratchett.

What are your favorite genres of books? SciFi/Fantasy/Adventure/Cooking
What are some of your favorite books to read? A lot of Manga and American Comics, But I enjoy The Dirk Gently books, Most Asimov or Ray Bradbury titles, Alton Brown cookbooks
Do you have a favorite author or a writer that inspires you? Ray Bradbury, the way he writes makes everything seem a little better...and with all the subjects he has written on it feels like he has made my world abit more vibrant.
Do you prefer to read online text opposed to paperback or do you not read altogether? Paperback, pc screen tends to strain eyes so prolonged stories get to me.
Do you have a favorite book, The Warlock in spite of himself by Christopher Stasheff. I found it in a used bookshop and read on a whim...Science Fantasy can be fun sometimes. Or The Illustrated man By Ray Bradbury since I think it is the best example of a "Frame Tale" since Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales."
