The Thing

Prologue- I didn't know what it was or where it came from. But it was there. Everywhere.

Chapter 1- My name is Skye, and I am 17, and still having nightmares. It has been a year since it has been here. A whole year, but the whole thing felt like yesterday, with it and my parents, and...well I'll just tell you the story from the beginning. It was a Monday morning, and I was hungry. Hungrier than I had ever been. So, I went downstairs, past Lillian's and Ben's room and got to the kitchen. Immeditely, I got some waffles out of the freezer, and plopped them in the toaster. Then I heard a noise, coming from the back hall that led to my parents room. It was a ripping sound. It was only six, so I knew no one in my family would had been up then, not even my cat Buster. So I knew it was something else. Now that it has been a year, I know I was right.

"My name is Skye, and I am 17, and still having nightmares." <-- For a first sentence, that's going to scare readers away. =/

Other than that, this isn't all that bad!
