One of our portable heaters got an "open" in its heating filament, so now only part of it works.
Because of that, it's taking only half the voltage while still draining the same amount of current.
I had plugged it into one of those multi-socket, fused extension cords, and after a minute or so, the fuse blew.
I guess the excess current drain was too much for it. At least the wall socket can take it. All that this means, is that I can only have a limited area that can be heated. (Ooh snap)
