many apople think M doesn't scream as much because he messed up his voice,NOT true.The band wanted to try out a new sound!

Well, he did ruin his voice, that's true. The other thing is because they were sick of their old sound becuase the whole "Screaming" thing was becoming popular and they wanted to try something new. He can still scream, he learned how to without ruining his voice, but he chose not to.

He can still scream, he learned how to without ruining his voice, but he chose not to. that is true, he did mess up his voice but he got a vocals teacher and he was taught to scream without messing up his voice. So if he wanted to start screaming again he could, he just doesnt want to because they didn't like the screaming alot, they wanted to sound more like guns n' roses.

Personaly, I like the new sound!
I recently bought COE, thought it was the greatest piece of music id heard in awhile. So the I bought WTF. While I still liked it, I preferr singing over screaming, unless I can understand the screaming. mrgreen

part of the reson i liked them so much to start out with is cause of the waking the fallen album.....i kinda like it more than the new one cause of the screaming....

Um. Well, A blood vessel ruptured in his throat and stuff, and yeah, they wanted to hear his vocal potential. They wanteds it to sound like the people they were into and there heros, and s**t.
Four words.
"Sick of the screaming."
But I still like it, I listen to Sounding the Seventh, and Waking the fallen more than anything I own.

they aren't sick of screaming. m. shadows blew out his vocal cords he has a screaming instructor and they might pick up screaming in their next album but he cant push it too hard or he will have to get vocal cords surgery again

I read alot, And They all said they where sick of it. So They wanted to give this a try, and sound like there idols, there heros. There doing a damn good job of sounding lie Axl on Seize the Day.

He also blew a blood vessel in his throat from screaming. He has a very sensitive voice, he can only sing/scream for one day, and the next day he takes off to rest his voice.
But yeah, they also wanted to take the album in a diffrent direction anyway, so it didn't really matter that he blew a blood vessel. He met with a singing coach who taught him how to scream porperly anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

I know that he broke a vessel, but they wanted to get away from the metalcore scene, and with there sucess I highly doubt they want to go back.

I don't think he got surgery at all. I watched an interview with them, and Shadows said that he just wanted to do something different.

You guys want the truth, okay here it is straight from Shadows mouth We can't explain this enough so I will answer it one more time.
I had a minor surgery on my throat a few summers ago. We went on that summer to play and scream all the way through warped tour that year. After warped tour we settled down to write the new record and as a band decided we did not want that to be a part of our sound anymore.
So here are the quick answers:
Surgery : Yes
Have anything to do with our sound now : Absolutely Not
