okay, you should only stretch with proper tapers. DO NOT use household items like straws, barbie doll legs, etc. the actual taper shoud only be in your ear for a second. if you keep the tapers in for long periods of time, it will lead to uneven stretching (not right away, but over time). once you have the taper in all the way, put the plug up to your ear so they're even and keep pushing so the taper falls out and the plugs in your ears. TAKE YOUR TIME. you should take 1-3 months on each size, and NEVER NEVER NEVER skip a size, no matter how "ready" you think you are. after every stretch, do sss (sea salt soaks) until you can twist the plug around with no problems, pain, etc. DO NOT USE ACRYLIC for fresh stretches. use materials such as titanium and surgical steel, such as Dysphoric Melody suggested, but (it may be pricey, but they're worth it) materials such as glass, wood, etc. are best for your ears. they last and look pretty ******** wicked.
here's a video of a dude who know's what he's talking about. partly about stretching in general, then explaining the tape method.

Actually. You've got it all backwards.
Bondage tape is SELF-adhesive.
Also. Tapers are one of the proper ways of stretching your ears. That and the Teflon/Bondage tape method.
DO NOT use Pinchers[these] to stretch because THEY make you stretch too fast, because they are the same size all the way around, tapers start at what size you're at, then gradually get bigger. NEVER wear tapers in your ears, because they will make the area heal uneven, and can get caught easier, which means they could possibly make your ear rip. So, place the taper through, then push the NO FLARE, plugs in.
Steel and Titanium is the best thing to use when allowing your ears to heal. Also, Glass.
