I have one friend who's positive it's anime, and one who's positive it's not anime. @_@ What do you think? http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/24606714/I can't decide.. the eye makes it seem anime-ish, but the rest isn't.. so I dunno. ._.;; Please help.. this is bugging me. XD;

This probably won't help much but I think it's sort of half anime half not.

i dont, think it is because if the face it doesn't have the sarp angles that are usally used when drawing an anime face.

An anime face doesn't need sharp angles to be anime. razz Escaflowne is anime but they tend to stick to more realistic figures.

its half half... but leaning towards the anime side. The eyes are anime, but the nose and parshly the lips is basically human anataomy. Sharp angles have nothing to do with the diffrence between anime and non. Look at anime from the 80's... thats all they did... sharp angles... but yea.. its half half...

I ahve never seen Escaflowne but all the tutorials that i have seen have instructed to do angle faces but... i wasn't trying to say that all anime is like that. sweatdrop stressed

It is anime, but the nose shouldn't look like that at that angle (it looks like an anime nose on a 3/4 view anime face). Just cause you shaded in the skin tone and muscles doesn't make it un-anime, the hair, ribbon, eyes, mouth, nose everything's anime! Just cause it doesn't look like anothers' style who draws anime doesn't mean it isn't so! Nice work heart

I think it looks like anime. I can't explain why, really. I don't know that much about art, I've never taken classes in my life, but I think it looks like anime.

I've seen art that deviates from the norm of anime much more than that fall like it had a rock attached to it into the anime category, so I'd say yes. Just 'cause it isn't on Cartoon Network doesn't make it not anime (in fact, I rather prefer Newtype USA magazine to CN, myself). In one style there are many different branches off that style. Your's is a more realistic one, perhaps.
But anime or something else, I like it. 'cept maybe the lips.
Oh, I forgot to mention, you might call it more manga than anime, since it has details you might not include if you were animating, but would if you had to express it in book format.
Know what I think? I think we need a new category. Like, WE-style. Western-eastern. Or something less politically-correct sounding than that.

It's anime, with a few steps towards realism. Not enough for it to be judged abreviated, but enough to make it look a bit different.

to me it looks like it's western influenced anime style form the late 90's when anime was slowly making a dent on main stream North America, but none the less it's half and half so it's all good ^^
