could someone try to explain the correct time to use either para or por? please?

So por expresses causes, why/because:

Ex: ¿Por qué te marchas a casa? = Why are you leaving to your home?
Me voy POR mi perro enfermito.= I'mBECAUSE my dog is sick.

And para expresses the purpose, for what?:

Ex: ¿Para qué sirve el bolígrafo? = What is the pen good for?
El boli sirve PARA escribir. = It is good FOR writting.

cool. i hate to seem like a whiner, but does anyone know the diffrence between cuál y qué?

So:::

"cuál" means "which one".
Ex: ¿Cuál es tu perro? --> Which one is your dog?

"qué" means "what".
Ex:¿Qué fue lo que escribiste? --> What did you write?


"Cuál" is like to pick one of all the possible answers, you have to pick one option between all the ones that you have.

"Que" is more general, you can choose: saying part of the answer or not saying anythig at all.
