I know, this sounds stupid, but who do you respect the most in your life? Your childhood? Adulthood? Any other times? Lol. It would be funny if someone in this guild respects their instrument the most though. rofl

Edith Piaf--good choice. Saw a biopic about her. Me, I respect most musicians of all kinds, including the
Beyonce's, Kanye's, and Cold Play's. It seems silly, but I think musicians and singers give so much of their time and work into their craft to entertain and enlighten the masses through sound and so few get duly recognized. Sure we're not saving a woman from a burning house or performing heart surgery, but music has changed lives and begun whole cultural revolutions, and its one of the few things that can bond so many people from all walks of life.
So, yay YOU!

my respect would have to be my 7th grade language arts teacher Mrs. Specer-Grant. she helped me through a tough time in my life when i thought everything was gone and that i had nothing in my life.

I respect my Orchestra teacher the most. He is a really dedicated teacher who really cares about his students. He always comes in early to school even though he lives 1:30 away to give out free lessons to students who don't appreciate them and don't always come. He runs a youth orchestra outside of school. He also plays in a professional orchestra. i don't know how he can have time to do all these things because they are all a huge time commitment. He truly cares about his students and that's why i respect him.

To be honest, I'd have to say my grandma. She died five years ago when I was 10. She was the one person who took care of me and did a lot in the way of raising me when I was little. She also really supported me and pushed me to do my best, especially when I began to play a musical instrument. She always wanted to hear me play a song on my flute whether I sucked or not. It was probably the darkest time in my life when she died. I really miss her still and I can't talk about her death without tearing up.

Funnily enough, it really would have to be my choir director. Well, rather, the artistic director for the choir I sang with as a kid. She is one of the best teachers I've ever had, plus I think she really genuinely cares about the well-being of her students and community. Which is rare, these days.
But I mean, I respect all of my teachers. Many of my college professors would come close, as well - they are great musicians with a lot of passion and drive, and I really respect that. One of my composition professors was also my academic advisor, and he is also an awesome teacher, besides just sticking around to help out whenever I needed (when he was free, that is). And also the current choir director at my university - I think I really respect him because I know he really uprooted his life to take a chance and come to Hawaii all the way from the East Coast, and he's really doing a stellar job of making his way into Hawaii's choir circle, which is kind of hard to do. That's definitely something I really respect... I don't know if I'd be able to handle that. Haha.
But yeah. There are so many awesome people in my life, it's hard to choose! >.<

I respect my teacher. Couple months ago I listened to some old recordings of my lessons. Wow, I was not only bad compared to now, I had the arrogance to think I was good. I respect my teachers for their knowledge, experience, but most of all for having the patience to put up with me.
