Favorite lyrics?

There are some songs with great lyrics. And lyrics ARE composed of words, so...

What songs do you know have nice lyrics? And who was the composer / singer? 3nodding

This goes in the music subforum, so I'll move it. I especially like Hammers and Strings and Swim by Jack's Mannequin as well as You Found Me by The Fray. There's plenty more, but those are some of my more current favorites merely for their great lyrics.

Imageof the Invisable by Thrice and Pieces, Some Say, With Me, We're all to blame, and Over my head ( Better off Dead) By Sum 41 are really good songs. ^_^

Anything by Ben Gibbard (The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie) is pure lyrical genius. He's a very clever storyteller, and his words are always so deliberately selected and placed. He has a very unique way of describing things.

Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes is also quite good. I especially like "From a Balance Beam" and "Bowl of Oranges", but there are a good many songs that are eloquent and thoughtful.

I only know one song by The Avett Brothers, and that's "The Ballad of Love and Hate". It's beautiful and clever, and I just love the imagery.

And, of course, there's Mr. Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, who I adore with every molecule of my frenzied heart. He speaks sings the truth.

Rats! Beaten to the punch xd :

Especially "If Everyone Cared" by Nickelback. I almost cried the first time I heard it because I believed the lyrics were so great razz

~ Bring me to life and everybody's fool- Evanescence

(these are just the gist of it, I like lyrics with an actual meaning behind it.)
