I'll be honest he is nearly impossible to beat but you can beat him... you have to use a hit and run strategy... here is a good guide I found that should help you out :3 I hope this helps

well first of all i was lv. 92 and used the ultima weapon, i never ran away from him, just keep hitting him and blocking, if you hit him continuasly he will only be able to hit you when he teleports and when he does if you see he's gonna attack you BLOCK and hit him, dont use magic, only the healing spell, and pack up on elixirs REMEMBER down run away from him if you want to win using this strategy it just took me three tries against sephiroth
1.Lv 62 with Oblivion
2.Lv. 74 with Oblivion
3.Lv. 92 with Ultima Weapon.

lol i took sometime to defeat him... i've the bestest hey of the game, the one that u get if u trade items with the lil creatures in town...
i was in a high level so, you've got to dodge often and have elixir in all your items spots.

lol i played kh so much ^^it was kinda hard to beat Sepiroth though =P
i dont quiet rember how i beated him though =I

Ummmm yeah it would of been impossible for me so just to see the video I used cheats so yeah sweatdrop
emo Quick fact though did you know that Sephiroth was the most powerful character that Square enix ever made.

yea I'm a bit stuck there too.. but according to the game guide I found the best way is to turn into master form (the one with goofy) and use combos..

just use thundaga or firaga and hit him form far away if he gets 2 close unle your brick break ability

hes not that toiugh i beat him with the oblivion on lvl 85 just constantly hit him and block i couldnt use the hit and run method its not my way of fighting XD twisted

for prep I say level up all 4 forms to their highest levels so you can get their abilities even when you arent in the forms. for weapon use ultima. Stock up on mostly elixirs and make sure it auto stocks when you use one
during battle use reflect and cure spells only
also attack attackattack and block when you have to. watch out for trigger commands. If he rises really high hit him asap or else use an elixir. if he cause a pillar of fire to appear run away
