I've tried drawing a couple. I'm not good yet, but I guess that's where practice comes in, eh?

this first one is Koda, my male fursona:


and this next one is my female. She's supposed to be a kangaroo, but..>> I didn't have anything to go by, so she kinda looks retarded. x.x and I messed up on one of her hands.

oh, and a side note: she was supposed to be leaning on something like a chaise or couch, but I got lazy and decided not to draw a background. x.x so no, her arm isn't just floating in space.

That is actually a really good starting point. The proportions are very accurate.

Maybe study some shading techniques and away you go!
