Okay, now I don't have ANY consoles (last one I bought was SNES and Sega Master System) but do have a PC. I'm REALLY in need of a good game to occupy some time. I prefer Computer RPGs... I've played most of the Might and Magic series, all the old Gold Box games from SSI, the Bioware Baldur's Gate series, etc. Haven't gotten a real new game in a couple of years. Personally I seem to prefer the kind you make a crew and go from there.
I've tried Oblivion, but for some reason it just didn't grab me much when I played it. Heck I never even made it out of the starter dungeon though, so maybe it's alot better afterwards. I tried NWN but it felt WAY to limited that they pushed you towards 'good' with everything in it, and I found the scripting limited. Like if I give an artifact to a guy in a bar for some money, they turn around and kill him and take it back I should still be able to go give it to the 'good guy' for their reward. It's not like the item mystically is corrupted as soon as he touched it, it would take a ceremony and such. Come on people, get it right!
Anyways, does anyone have a real suggestion for me?

Freeciv, it's adaptive (almost infuriatingly so) allows room for megalomania and overall an evenly paced game...
I believe the address is freeciv.org, but I'm not terribly sure so just google it instead...

My hubby, who is somewhat of a PC RPG addict, can recommend a lot of great games. A few preliminary questions...
heart How much are you willing to spend? (Nothing, under $20, etc) heart Do you like single player, Multi-player, MMORPG, or other? heart Do you want knock-your-socks-off awesome graphics? Or do you care if it's cheesy 90's graphics?
Some of the games I remember him playing long into the night include Sacred, Sacred II, Fable, Guild Wars, Two Moons, Age of Empires (Insert almost every edition here), Black and White, and Black and White 2.

Well the money is not as important right now as if nothing else i'll have birthdays/Christmas coming up. I like multiplayer, but never seem to be able to work it out really to get much of that going so usually end up just with single-player. I HATE MMORPG as I refuse to get a game I have to pay a monthly fee to continue playing AFTER I buy the damn game.
As for the graphics, really that is inconsequential as long as the story is good and the play is fun. I think I get alot of satisfaction out of figuring it out and solving it.

Guild Wars is nice because once you buy the software, you don't have to pay for online play. It is an MMORPG, tho.
Sacred is pretty cool, and my hubby can direct you to a place where you can get the UK version of Sacred II for free. Pretty cool graphics too. And it comes with an awesome in-game music video.
I think Fable might be right up your alley. I got it for my hubby's birthday last year and he loved it. It's one of those games where you can choose to be good or evil, but there's no pressure on which way to take. When your evil, you leave smoking footsteps and your head has a crown of flames. When your good you leave flowers in your wake and butterfly follow you everywhere. It's also pretty interesting because you can sleep with women and kill random people.
Black & White is also like that, except you play god, and you can choose to be a good god or an evil god, and you get an animal you can train to eat the villagers or defend the temple or whatever.

Well, I looked at the Fable website and it does seem quite like what would be fun. I may have to look into getting it... thanks for the suggestions!

I like the game Elderscrolls Oblivion, it is quite a fun rpg, lots of side quests, intriguing story if you let yourself get wrapped into it, a lot of side missions. And pretty cheap as well, it also has a couple expansions as well.
