Description: A huge, marble arena filled with stands reaching towards the sky. A large oval fighting pit dominates center stage and a recessed trench around the perimeter forms a gauntlet filled to the brim with traps and such enclosing the pit, not only to serve as a danger, but also as a separate event itself. The gauntlet is usually covered over when not in use, and sometimes partitions are put up to divide the pit into separate fighting areas, typically no more than two. At times there are also obstacles put up in the fighting pit, sometimes with themes, such as fake ruins.
The two main entrances to the fighting pit itself are equipped with heavy spiked portcullises and large doors in front of them. The smaller one is for competitors from outside the arena to enter by, and leads from the practice rooms.
The larger one comes from a dark tunnel through which come creatures kept in the lower levels of the arena… all potentially deadly, some far more than others.
At the front main entrance of the entire building there is a ticket booth, usually staffed by any of a number of part-time workers, mostly bored-looking teens. A sign there says:
Admission: Affordable.
If you can afford nothing, then the price is nothing for you.
If you can afford an exorbitant fee, then by all means pay it.
Enjoy watching the battles!

There are also signs with arrows on them, one of which says:
Spectator Seating THIS WAY
which leads up a set of wide marble stairs to the walkway around the seating; and pointing the other direction towards a high-ceilinged hallway is a sign reading:
Competitor Sign-Up and Practice Rooms THAT WAY
Halfway up in the spectator seating, there is a walkway going all around the arena, with a few scattered concession stands, mostly for popcorn and sodas. At one end of the arena on this upper level, there is a control booth (usually locked) and a simple utility closet next to that. In the control booth, there are consoles for lighting, effects, security cameras, and also a holo-projection system that is connected to the cameras and lighting systems. On the other end of the Arena opposite the control booth and on that same level, there is a reasonably wide flat area that can be used for small presentations of sorts. On this level there are also various doors leading to hallways and stairways inside the structure of the arena. Many of these are usually locked, and at least one of the hallways ends in a big set of double doors to a very large storage room underneath some of the upper levels of seating. That storage room has been found to be mostly filled with old forgotten musical instruments, costumes and stage props.
On the ground floor, inside the Arena and just before one reaches the entrance to the practice rooms, there is an open space where currently there is a temporary folding table and chair with a sign on the wall indicating this is where the tournament sign-ups are handled.
From that space, there is a wide marble archway. Above the arch a sign reads:
Enter Practice Rooms at Your Own Risk
(Management is not responsible for bruised limbs and egos, death, or dismemberment occurring in the Practice Rooms)
(Management is not responsible for bruised limbs and egos, death, or dismemberment occurring in the Practice Rooms)
Below that there are steps leading partway down to the next level, where there is a landing with a door to one side with a sign reading:
Danger! Employees Only
Continuing down past the landing, there are the practice rooms. In them can be found various forms of exercise equipment, a number of beat-up target dummies, punching bags, mats for exercising and sparring, and a plethora of weapons both of the practice variety and the full versions.
At the far end of all the practice rooms there is a set of stairs leading up from them to the competitor’s entrance to the fighting pit of the Arena.
The Employees Only Area is strictly off-limits to everyone except for Christie, the lead monster handler of the Arena, and her assistant BillBob, who isn’t generally allowed everywhere there anyway. Rumor has it that down past the rooms where the monsters are kept, is an area where one could easily get lost in the stairwells, corridors and rooms of the old forgotten basement levels. It’s even rumored that there are catacombs and storage rooms for things that have been there since before any of the structures above even existed. But anyone attempting to go there uninvited/unescorted is sure to meet with more difficulty than such exploration is worth.
Past Events: It has been rumored that the Dueling Arena was once a stadium used for concerts, known as the Ometta dome, but none of the Dueling Arena’s current staff know much of anything about that.
