Do you think you have an Honor Code?
  Yes. (Please Post!)
I try to always do what I think is right, but I don't adhere to a code.
Pfffff! Honor! That's like Justice; not something I waste my money on!

Do you have a personal code of Honor? Not just a "I try to do whats right" type thing. But a serious mantra of condensed morals you hold yourself to?

This was asked of me at a youth camp I attended years ago, and I just found my old notes. Revising them somewhat to accommodate my maturation, here are the three core values in my personal honor code:

1. Love--selfless, outgoing concern of agape towards God, family, friends, strangers, and the earth.
2. Honesty--in all words and deeds, regardless of the consequences.
3. Diligence--to never rest on the cusp of victory and always follow through on the first two core values.

Anyone else have a personal honor code? I'm curious because it seems like such a rarity these days. 3nodding

my moral code hasn't been written, but it is there, and i tend to word it on the spot when it comes up... let's see if i can pull it outof my head consiously.

1.) Do not blame. fault is irrelevant. the more people who take responcibility for everything the better, and the less who point out who isn't helping the better. pointing fingers doesn't do anything to clean up a mess.

2.) Be Compassionate. share in your friends' joy and pain. it has been said "joy multiplies when shared with others, while pain diminishes with each division."

3.) Forgive anyone and veryone who shows an honest desire to do better, no matter how many times they have betrayed you or hurt you or screwed up. Forgiveness heals.

4.) Settle all disputes on equal ground. may the best win.

5.) Respect all agreements, no matter the end results. Your Word -- your Promise -- is sacred.

6.) Be always open to new ideas. Anything you think you know for sure could be completely wrong. Ignorance gets you nowhere.

7.) Determination. never give up on any task, see it through to the end. after all, if you are going to lose, at least go down still fighting. to give up is pointless and stupid. you should have more Pride and Confidence than that.

you know see... that's the problem. I have some type of code, but I don't always know what it is myself. It's more subconscious and guiding than anything, and of course like my personality it will shift and flow some as time goes by and I myself change.

The one thing I've learned is NEVER say NEVER, as it will always come back to bite your a**.

Maybe that's half my problem is that I really don't know these things very well, and just take them as they come. I think I'm too laid back, and all... though I will say that when I find something I like, I will stick with it even when I shouldn't until I hit that wall before moving onward. Kinda stubborn that way, and resistive to change somewhat I guess once I get comfortable with things.

Some people can cope with trouble without having a set-in-stone mantra. Kudos for outstanding character, excellent parenting, or maybe just fabulous luck!

I was not one of those people. No solid character, sketchy parenting, and the worst luck.. Believe it or not, I discovered my personal code in fantasy books. sweatdrop Nothing like Tolkien to put Mithrill in your spine!

Or Dragonlance, as I'm sure Chemosh would agree if he ever stops in here.

aye, the many fantasy books we read are rife with lessons to be told... an interesting medium, but a good one.

I have strong morale codes but not quite an "Honor Code" I adhere to.

Honesty - You should always be honest and true to yourself, your friends, and family least all the ones that matter to you and even then, it is still best to always try and be as honest as you can at all times.

One of the biggest and important aspects in my life.

Trust - It is important to give everyone some level of trust. You don't have to trust everyone completely and utterly, that is foolish, but you should give them the first stepping stone.

Respect - everyone deserves some level of it from opening a door for someone when they are in need, or no, to helping someone out with money troubles, food issues, etc. But that doesn't mean you should allow yourself to become a welcome mat.

Curtesy - This one goes hand in hand with respect.

Kindness

I guess you can just say these are the words I hold sacred for myself.

"It's not set in stone or been written, but I say it a lot".
1.Do onto others as you would have them do onto you.
or
Don't treat others how you Don't want to be treated.
2. Kindness is rewarded with love, anger with fear.

3. With holding information is pain full, But being blunt can hurt more.
Or
Being truthful is wise, But telling only what is asked can save your life.
4. There is no one that does not need love and a hug.

i should add to mine, 7.) Determination. never give up on any task, see it through to the end. after all, if you are going to lose, at least go down still fighting. to give up is pointless and stupid. you should have more Pride and Confidence than that.

ye syou can. there is no point in giving up in anything. cause ifyou're just gonna give up, why not keep trying anyway? now, stopping for sake of survival is entirely different. because then, it's more of a tactical retreat, and is oppurtunity to find a different angle.

Do not fear what is right- If it feels wrong to you fight it.
Be strong- Not just physically, mentally and spiritually, you never know when you will be the resting spot for some one else's tired wings.
Be sunshine- Because if you carry your own sunshine, you can grow the flowers the rain had begun but then left.
Love yourself- Quite simple
Loyalty to self and those you care for- Never forsake them even if they forsake you, it will come back to you in the end.
I will add more when I can understand how to word the. The others are the ones deeply rooted in me that I am just compelled to do.
