Well, whether the teachings are "good" or not really depends on your mindset. XD
The Ten Commandments sum up pretty much the whole of the religion. When you start reading the Bible further, some of the commandments are expounded upon in rather nitpicky ways. Premarital sex is considered to be adultery (sleeping with someone's future spouse), so it falls under 7, and lustful thoughts fall under 10, for example.
1. You shall have no other gods before YHVH.
2. You shall not worship idols.
3. You shall not wrongfully use the name of God.
4. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.
5. Honour your father and your mother.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour (commonly interpreted as "do not lie").
10. You shall not covet.
In my opinion, numbers 5 through 9 are all good ideas. These commandments are specifically for Jews and Christians, but since Islam essentially came from Judeo-Christianity, it probably applies there as well. I'm actually about to read the Qu'ran, so maybe I can get back to you about it later.
