My L button stopped working. Completely. Does anyone know how to get around that problem? I know it has happened to almost every DS I have ever seen, even ones that are kept in pristine condition.

Dude, trust me, the L and R buttons are always the first to go. Every Game boy Advance, SP, micro, and DS I have ever owned suffers the same fate every single time. No matter what I do.
My current DS's L and R are broken at this very moment as a matter of fact.

As far as I can tell, theres not much to do about it. Maybe a repair shop or someone good at taking things apart and reassembling them can help, but as far as a do-it-yourself thing...

I would accept it and consider plans for buying a new one in the future...

Im truely sorry. sad

I would recommend calling Nintendo and seeing if there's anything they can do about it. Your DS might be under warranty and if it isn't they still might fix it anyway.

Dammit! The same happened to my GBA! The R button is a little piece of crap!

I KNOW HOW TO FIX IT...finaly somthing I can help with.

1. place broken button in mouth leaving the gap between the DS and the button exposed on one side.

2. Blow as hard as you can without spitting or exhaling too much mositure.

3. test the button, if it works then yay if not try again.

I know this may seem stupid but I used it to fix mine. it saved me about $40.

That happened to my R button. I sent it in and they fixed it. =D

all that's wrong with it is there's dirt on the receptors, you can blow it out without too much hassle. It's better than sending it in and haveing them take it apart when you can fix it yourself. Call me crazy but I swear blowing on it works.

Blowing works on everything related to Nintendo consoles or games.

I asked my friend and he said this too. ^
If that doesn't work he said it has to be opened up and cleaned and that's waaaaaay harder. Gl.
