Developing Astral Senses

Shut your eyes and think of a giant grandfather clock in front of you. Focus on watching it function, one sense at a time.

The moving of the hands of the clock, and the swinging of the pendulum (sight)

The tick-tock of the gears inside (hearing)

The feel of the wooden case (touch)

The smell of the dust inside it (smell)

...there's really no way to develop taste using a grandfather clock. For that I'd say imagine an orange in your hand, then take a bite.

If it works you should feel pressure on your eyelids or ears.

When you master each sense individually, try integrating it with the next sensation.

I'm confused, what makes this something for developing astral senses, rather than just an exercise in visualization/imagination?

I have seen a few references in books suggesting such visualization techniques as sensitization for your psychic senses. Since you are receiving your own signals, it is good practice for visualization and reception.

Kinda. It's a step in the right direction. I found that if you can't clear your head out then it's hard to do anything on the astral plane at all.

Also, this should really be regarded as nothing more than suggestive.

i personally would suggest simply experiencing in the field, and training your senses by opening yourself up one sense at a time.

if anything ive heard about the astral planes anything is technicly possible and learning to sense with your mind is a great skill to manage, even with the short discription i think it is a good style to help visual people take a step tward projection =^-^=
