To start off a new topic...
Show of hands.. whom here has been to an Anime convention?
*Raises own hand*
I've been to three thus far... 1) MangaNext (200 cool 2.) Otakon (2009) 3.) New York Anime Festival (2009)
How about the rest of ye? And, if so, what/who have you cosplayed as?
I've been a pirate and also Lain from Serial Experiments Lain smile

Then I went to Fanime 2005-2009
I also went to J-TAF 2006-2008
There's also Kin-YoobiCon 2008- 2009
Although I might have some of my dates mixed up. ^^;
I have yet to Cosplay, but I DID do a Gothic and Sweet Lolita outfits, but that's more of a fashion style then an actual Cosplay.

Lolita isn't cosplay, but as long as it is done correctly it is welcome at Anime conventions ^^.

It's not every day one sees a cat in bear pajamas...so, when someone says something is "the cat's pajamas", they're saying it's a bear? wink
Uhmmm...

Yeah I know you were at Fanime this year since that's when I FINALLY got to meet you in person. Although I say you should totally cosplay Amara-chan! I bet you could find something that would suit you ^_^

I originally hail from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida so I went to a local con called Tate's mondo-pop...it was later renamed the ACC which stood for something and was nowhere near as cool as mondo-pop. I also attended Megacon in Orlando one year and Dreamcon in North Fl back in '03 and '04. I am now in Montana so I had to drive a little more to get to a con. I went to Seattle and attended the Emerald City Comicon rather than Sakuracon because it was one or the other and my days off made the ECCC easier to attend for the full 2 days. most of the cons I have made it to had a large anime turnout and most had costumes...but I haven't made it to an anime only con.

So shooting my mouth off has put me in an interesting situation. I went to a convention in Spokane, WA that was for tabletop miniature gaming back in October. It was less than outstanding, and not worth the drive from MT. While lamenting the travel cost vs level of enjoyment I argued that we could put on a better con using the closed portions of one of a local shopping plaza with help from our local comicshop. At this point it was one part speculation, one part bravado...so when did my friends start taking me seriously? I have no idea but the first annual "Genecon" (kid you not, they named the thing after me) will be late July this year. It's gaining momentum and I can't pull out now, but I haven't a clue how to run a con...I'll keep you all updated of the fiasco as it happens and I think of it XD #22
