Who heard of this philosophy?
I like that it's about humans being individuals who find their own purpose for existence.
There's more to it but that's basically what I got from learning about it.

Ever heard the song Existential Blues? It's a good song. ^_^ You should go find it! It makes very little sense.

I think the philosophy fits in well with Unitarianism.

Existentialism is kind of the anti-philosophy.

Existentialism is the solution to the problem of Nihilism. Since life is meaningless, the only solution is to give it meaning.

Of course, there is a lot more to it than that. But the there is the basic idea.

The reason it could be described as an "anti philosophy" is because it was created to essentially bring philosophical thought back to Earth, to make it more applicable to life rather than just having grand sweeping meta physical gestures.

is anyone else existentialist besides me? =/

here's what i learned in AP LIT:
1.)concrete in humanity
2.) nost based on essence of ManKing
3.)Look for answers (but not from GOD)
4.) the world doesn't care about the individual
5.) Focus on YOU! (the individual) [kind of egocentric]
6.) Central Proposition: Existence precedes essence.
7.) INDIVUALIST
8.) "Don't believe because your parents believe in it, but because you thought about it."
9.) "against" the authortiy; that's why religion, bosses, parents dislikes existentialism
10.) Actions define you.

Here are some Berkeley lectures on it in case you're interested. Obviously, it's hard to follow after the first one if you don't have the texts, but the first one gives some really good background:
