I've asked in the past, and it is sometimes an ongoing discussion,
thus I feel enough time has passed and my desire to create a topic based on member notions of a journey to Japan is now being realized.

This topic is to discuss any interests in traveling to Japan - including (but not limited to) regions, prefectures, cities, businesses, shops, tourist attractions and much more! So let us discuss the interests, desires, hopes, and dreams we might have in regards to traveling to Japan.
-------------------------------------------------
Some topics/questions to start off healthy conversation

▲ What Would You Do? ▲

▲ What Sparked Your Desire to See Japan? ▲

▲ How You Feel About Japan ▲

▲ What Will Get You to Japan? ▲

▲ Would You Travel With A Group? ▲

Yes this thread may be one big dream, but it's still fun to talk about.
I feel if there is a will, there is always a way.
Maybe someone who reads this will gain the courage to do what they need to to be successful in life, who knows : P

I have to admit, I've been listening to a TON of Tenchi music lately, and it's brought up feelings (to the point of tears sweatdrop )that were smothered and buried some time after I returned to America from my first trip to Japan. But something has rekindled that flame and it slowly grows. There's just something about that place that is... intoxicating...
The past few months for me have been very educational in regards to growing as a person. I'm in a position which could in the future allow me to continue on living in the Central Coast, but if I went in another direction I could just as easily be on the path to my dream of living in Japan. At least that's how I feel. I still need all the schooling involved in the path I'd walk, and the time between, but I to this day have not lost that passion I have had for years which is paramount in knowing who you are and what you want do to with your life.
If I could wake up tomorrow with a job offer at a bank or store in Japan with the experience needed and the living estimate to get by in life, I'd buy a one way ticket and wouldn't look back. Granted I love my family and I'd never leave them like that xD but sometimes I wonder.... for what it means to be happy, to make others happy... the sacrifice of ones happiness to ensure another happiness... it definitely keeps me up at night.

I don't want to actually live in Japan...but I really want to go there, maybe even for an extended time [a year or half of one, perhaps]. It's so hard for me to decided where I want to go...I'd be happy taking one big tour of Japan. I do really want to go to Kyoto though to see all of the historical stuff. I want to see the countryside and go shopping at all of the neat places in Tokyo! whee Clothes...video games... heart

And I'm pretty certain I would get along with Japanese culture...except for the fact that I would probably be easily saddened by references to me as a "gaijin" in a disdainful manner. ^^' I'm pretty self-conscious...annoyingly. =/

What I really want to do is the JET program after I graduate from university. [I'm sure you already know, but it's the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program...I would go to Japan to teach English and a lot of my stuff would be paid for! ^^]

The JET Program is very tempting, I've often thought of that myself 3nodding

Well depending on how big of a city and stuff, would depend on how much you would get called that. If it was Tokyo it would be a lot different, then one of the smaller cities.

Also remember to get a stamp with your signature on it. That's the way they do it in Japan. You can get that done in America.

There's a 21 day or so discount transit pass that covers all trains, except for some of the high speed rails. I believe it also works on buses. Totally something you should get. You can ONLY get this in America.

Remember that during a certain day/time of the month you can go out to the curb to get people's discarded electronics. There are some stores that specialize in selling good quality used electronics.

Be sure to give gifts to people who help you out, and bow whenever you receive someone's card.

I'll post some more stuff later. I have a book on Japan that I read, which was quite enlightening.
