Okay... so my oldest is apparently getting a Wii for Christmas from grandma. So does anyone have a good RPG they'd recommend on it that I might get for myself and play when the kiddies are asleep?

Aye, there be a few options.
Say, for example, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the new world. It's a good title, a sequel to the gamecube game Tales of Symphonia. it has elements of fighting games in it's combat system, but it's well done, honestly.
For a more strategy angle, there it of course, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. It's a strategy combat video game, with a unique angle on giving each unit a separate identity.
And but of course, a Wii owner can't pass up on Super Smash Bros. Brawl. ^_^ A good game to play on a lazy weekend or when feeling like a casual play.
For the last two, A gamecube controller is usable to play them. I can recommend a few more RPGs from the gamecube if you wish. The wii is backwards compatible with the gamecube's library.

Like Iron Gamer said, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the new World is a good title, finished it last week <3 only don't forget this part is about a love story, not everyone likes it ^^;
It's the only RPG I've got for the Wii ^^' I've more GC RPGs which also can be played by the Wii but needs an GC controller, like Tales of Symphonia 1, it's my most favo game I've got so far and Baiten Kaitos for an other RPG example.
Can't say much about Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, I like the chars and story but I'm not really a strategy combat video game player xD
Some other cool games for the Wii I've got and really like are RE4 Wii edition, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart :3
May be you would like some Zelda games? The legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is for the Wii but also for the GC. I like the GC version much better ^^; For the GC there also is The legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, the look is more kiddy but still really cool for his story/puzzles/etc.
