whee what is your dream gig? Mine is Cirque du Soleil because of the dynamic energy, incredibly fun looking costumes, and who doesn't like CdS?

A gig is a performance opportunity or job for a musician, usually paid. (The term can be applied to other professions too, though not as commonly.)

Ah! I'm in a chamber group this semester with a harpist. I'm so excited, the harp is such a beautiful instrument.

Escargot A pops orchestra, lol. Or a studio musician for movies. Those would be pretty fun. I've done small studio orchestras -- it depends on who's running the session. Today, in fact, I had a nightmare of a gig where the composer ("from New York," he boasted) had no idea how to explain what he wanted. Telling us to "tighten up the rhythm" doesn't mean squat, and asking for "more emotion" is super-vague. Does he want more vibrato? More dynamic changes? What?? But I've also done super-fun film sessions, so it really depends on the music and the people. My dream gig is to be a university professor who also gets frequent gigs around town. Preferably somewhere on the foggy Northern California coast.

but I do not write music, nor lyrics,
and my singing style/voice isn't anything like the mainstream.
It would be a dream come true to get to sing with Josh Groban someday.
Other than that, I really just want to make a difference
in the world through marine biology.

My dream job would be debuting at La Scala. I think I'd probably die. I'm almost positive the Italians would like my voice (y'know, in ten or fifteen years, anyway), but honestly, I'd just not want to be booed off stage.
I'd like to, at least once, sing at the Met. Mostly for the prestige.

I would want to do something meaningful, like play music at a hospice service or perform at a church. I'm not religious, but I feel like it could really effect someone. whee
