Desu is Basically it means "to be" or "is".
But their sentence structure is different so it's at the end of the sentence.
Like...
That's a cat. = sore wa neko desu.
and...
What's your name? = anata no namae wa?
Mysa desu = its Mysa

There are 3 ways of saying Hello in Japanese

The standard way is Konnichiwa, this is a polite form of addressing someone with a morning greeting.

If you were meeting them in the evening, it would be konbanwa

If it's a person you are familiar with, the first time you see them in a day, you would instead greet them with 'ohayou gozaimasu' or just 'ohayou'
