The start of a
New Year
The ball drops
Clock hits zero
People clap
Cheers are heard
Loved ones kiss
Confetti falls with grace
The breath of the people
Give off fog
But it lifts to the sky
Forgotten by most
People crowd
Hundreds into a place
To celebrate
A New Year
365 days
They all wait
For this occasion
To happen
Not just in New York
But all over the world
Do people gather
And celebrate the Year
A celebration
Shared by all
Forgetting culture
And color
For once we are
All the same
Under one roof
Sharing the love
The clock strikes 12
Screams echo
hands brought together
If only for a moment
The night ends
Leaving us with a New Year
A chance to change
Or stay the same

I sit back and relax, watching as the stars and fireworks mingle
I look back at my pictures, reminding me of my now gone year,
and i smile, i simply smile
It has been a decent year, nothign big, nothing small
I look back and remember the good times
frown at the bad times
And laugh at the embarrasing times
I look out at the night sky
My future is as dark as the night, i have no clue what is coming
i just have those small stars giving me hints and clues
but i dont mind, its an adventure, the one of my life
because it is my life
The path is dark, its easy to get lost, its easy to loose everything
but thats the fun of it, the mystery attracts us more
the competition for who will lead keeps us going
The rush of fighting another year makes us live
the intensity of each day that passes new is incredible
Living itself is what keeps us going
Living to see another day, another week another month
Another year
This one, new year

I sit outdoors, watching the sunless sky above
Everyone has someone, couples together on flannel colored blankets
Fireworks go off, giving the black sky color
Everyone aws and ooohs as the colors explode
I sit and watch smiling
They start the count down and its almost time
10, they chant the numbers as do I, awaiting a new entree in life's chapter
9, it draws nearer
8, am I ready to welcome the new year?
7, what will this new year bring? joy? happiness?
6, or will it bring sadness and pain?
5, who knows, wish I did to know what to expect
4, but if I knew and others did to then would that still be living?
3, it's almost down, that giant ball of glass and lights
2, just an inch so left before it touches. am I ready?
1, am I ready to say welcome 2010?
HAPPY NEW YEAR! everyone cheers couples kiss and I smile
Guess I'll have to be ready....

I'm alone at home on the 31'st of December,
Looking out the window,when's all this going to be over?
Everyone outside's simulating someone or the other,
My neigbour's smothering herself with make-up in front of the mirror.
I don't see why they have to bother about such little things,
It's just another year,
We're only getting older.
I don't worry about writing my resolutions;
Cause I know,just like many other rules,
they're only written to be broken.
If people truly meant what they write or say,
They would change their habits,
No matter what day.
Just another year that's gone to waste;
But nobody cares,
They like to blame it all on fate.
We're lagging behind in this race against time,
But No-one tries to understand,
That with every wrong step they take,
Every little mistake that's made,
They're ruining theit lives with their own hands.
The world's going down,thing's are getting dirty,
And tonight's not going to be any different,
Just because it's new year's eve.
