* has more information than just that*
There was an earthquake off the coast of Chile, the tsunami has already hit Australia and New Zealand.
It is scheduled to hit the Hawaiian islands, and hit with multiple waves, however, as yet nothing serious has happened. My ex husband is stationed over there and keeping me updated.
As of an hour ago, the only thing is the water has changed color, but no waves.

My husband has a friend over there. So far, like ^ said, nothing much. But Chilli has had over 50 aftershocks that got above 5.0 so far, and who knows how long they'll last. Some of the aftershocks were worse than the first Hatian quake.

We've been warned to stay away from the beaches, and out of the water. There were a bunch of idiots heading down to surf the tsunami this morning, apparently they've no idea what a tsunami is.

The Alert was cancelled her this morning, but coastal peoples have to watch out for strange sea fluctuations. (I'm fairly safe from a tsunami where I am, even it decided to creep up the manawatu river our house is a good 5km's from the water).
Some seriously mental people were swimming in the sea, despite knowing there was a tsunami warning in effect...people that stupid really make me want to hit things. Luckily despite the idiots no one was killed in our waters, and it certainly gave Civil Defense a good run.
