My Narcotic.

This pill that I swallow,
it helps to relieve,
a darkness so blinding,

and deep in my dream,

But only in sleep I'll experience this,

So I'll slip into darkness,
with the pill that I pick,

Hmm, I thought it sounded more like it was talking about the drugs someone takes to relieve themselves of the depressed feelings that they feel at losing someone they love(apologies if that was the love you were speaking about. It seemed to my that you were talking about the poem as a whole).

But I suppose that it could be taken to be talking about someone that that the depressed person finds comfort in.

Actually now that I've thought a bit more, it could be referring to sleeping and dreaming of the lost loved one or something else that incurs a feeling of bliss.

wow that understandable it must be hard for someone to lose everything they had. they need some help and comfort. understand that it like a feeling feel empathy for someone
