Most of you guys talk about "grades" and "exams" question . I've never had these; I was a Suzuki student. Are there any more like me in this guild. If so, what's your favorite piece from your Suzuki days? Mine is the Bach double (for 2 violins)!!!! mrgreen mrgreen

I never heard of a Suzuki brand of violin, but growing up I learned violin via the Suzuki method. There's 10 books in all, though I only played through the first five before continuing with a more "traditional" style of learning.

Don't tell me no one here has ever played from the Suzuki books? There's even an international organization for Suzuki Method teachers and whole training programs on every stringed instrument. eek

I love to play from the Suzuki books, even though I only just started them and only in the midst of Book 2, they are much more enjoyable than what I have previously played

I didn't learn by the suzuki method but I do own a lot of suzuki cello books. There are a lot of great songs in them! My teacher didn't want me to get into the habit of learning by numbers though, so I just played regularly.

OMG!!! I loved Suzuki!! I learned through that method too but only got through the first four books sadly .... sad ...

Favorite piece would be from Book 2, Song #9 "Gavotte from Mignon." Of course I have many more favorites than that, haha!

Goodness I miss my Suzuki days. I used to loop the CDs before bedtime since the pieces were so lovely. heart

I played through the first 8, then moved on. I'd be interesting to check out the last two though. I think they're just concerto's though.

My my, let me show my age. I never had the CD's, only the cassettes. xp so I had to rewind to hear my favorite piece again, and flip it over to play with just the piano accompaniment playing.
