Ashlie has only been in love once in her life and that was with Seth. The first and only boyfriend she's ever had. But on his way to his new college, Seth was killed. That was two years ago. Now, Ashlie's found that she can link with other people's minds and destroy them if she so wishes. But there's this one boy at California State University that she can't link to. He seems to have interest in her, but Ashlie is afraid that he's more than what he says he is....

Marcus seemed to ignore her as he walked with a few people but when he was far enough he shot her a smile and turned back looking at the others.

Ashlie winced at the smile and turned back to her friends.
"You should go say hi." one of her friends said.
"What's the point? He's weird." Ashlie said trying to mind-link with him but she failed. 'stupid.' she thought.
