Story:

The humans have discovered the existence of vampires. As a result, they fight, but not through all-out warfare. The economy has dropped farther than ever before in history. Finding heavy weaponry is almost impossible to find. The only ones who can protect the humans are specially trained soldiers, bred to shoot first and ask questions later. These are the hunters.

The vampires' leaders are decided through one principal rule. Power. The strongest become leaders, and the weakest are killed off. Vampires may show a form of kindness among themselves, but to the humans they are cold, cruel and sadistic. Many vampires have been known to take humans as slaves.

One day, one unfortunate band of hunters is attacked by one high-ranking vampire known as Damien. As he burst into their campsite in the dead of night, he caught a scent, far unlike any he had ever known especially from a human's veins. As he connected the scent with one female hunter, he was determined to kill her, to bleed her dry, if it was the last thing he did. He tore through her companions without even blinking. They hadn't known who he was but the girl had. Of the human hunters, she was one of the best. She had killed vampires that the others knew and feared. But she knew when and who to pick a fight with. She knew when she had met her match. But as she fled the fight she swore revenge on him. He followed her for two days straight, but she was always one step ahead. But he knew, sooner or later, that she would slip up. He wouldn't allow himself to return without having eliminated the band of hunters entirely. But her, her he wouldn't kill immediately. No he would make her death nice and slow especially if it involved taking her home in chains to play with.

Profiles:

Name: Damien

Age: Appears 20

Bio: As a born vampire, he had never known what it was like to be human. Since he was still a young child he had learned to hunt. He'd been born and bred for it. As he grew up, his strength and skill allowed him to quickly become among the highest ranking vampires.

Personality: Short-tempered, possessive, sadistic, tries to keep his cool around other vampires.

Appearance: Damien

Name: Lynee Hartrea

Age: 19

Bio: Poor Lynee has been dealing with vampires on her doorstep ever since they first appeared into her life, attacking her and a group of friends on their way home one night. She almost lost her life that night, and thus developed a severe dislike of even the mere mention of the creatures. She took the hunter training in order to help extinguish their race. Weaponwise, she is a skilled marksman and favors a silenced gun, but under any other terms she keeps silver knives and other pieces of metal on her person at all times. If she has no bullets on her, then she resorts to silver coins. Most vampires are surprised at how effective they are, she has noticed.

Personality: Lynee can seem calm and aloof when dealing with others, even cold at times. If she manages to warm up to someone talking to her, then she can be a powerful ally, however, she usually does not deem anyone with a rank higher than “acquaintance of some sort.” She can be rather hot-headed when angered, often taking on a “shoot first, ask questions later” personality when she’s ticked off- whether she’s dealing with a vampire or a team-mate.

When Damien reached the clearing he paused. He was getting closer, her scent was still fresh here. He needed to have her. If not for her seductive blood, it was so he wouldn't be humiliated upon return. How could this mere human have possibly avoided him for one hour let alone two days. His anger only fueled his bloodthirst. He could feel his extended fangs, aching to sink into the soft supple flesh of her neck. Aching to drink her dry. He knew his eyes were glowing red, as they always did when he was thirsty or angry. As he moved onward, he couldn't help but grin wickedly in anticipation.

Lynee ran carefully along a small trail in the woods, knowing the offending vampire was close on her heels. She had left afew silver-knife line-trigger traps, but she doubted that he would fall for them. She had set them on various trails, and left her scent along each, so he was bound to get confused eventually if her scent lead him in circles. She rested one hand along the silencer in her belt, keeping a hand on the trigger and ready to use it at the moment the vampire figure out her deceitful tricks. What had been supposed to be a routine scouting trip had gone horribly wrong, and she needed to get out of this forest and back to her headquarters. They had heavier counterdefenses there.

Damien knew something was wrong. He had already been here before. He continued to follow the trail of her scent until he noticed something. He stopped to verify it. Footprints. He could tell his prey was getting sloppy. From what he had seen she was good at covering her tracks. He must have been tiring her out. He began following the new trail of her footsteps until he could smell her scent again. Using both he knew he wouldn't be fooled again.

Lynee had momentarily stopped to put another tripwire, figuring he would have figured her out by now. She didn't have the time to cover up her tracks, so making alot of them was a much simpler action to take. She strung up the knives so that they would be put in action. She then started to zigzag again, releasing small silver coins containing her scent down different trails.

He stared intently at the ground, following the girl's footsteps. As he watched the ground he came across tripwires. But he always found them. He watched a** her footsteps began going in a zig zag pattern and could smell her scent go in different directions at multiple points sure signs she was trying to lose him in as many ways as she could. It was a sign he was getting close. And possibly a sign that she panicking or fearful. Good.

Lynee kept a tight hold on her gun as she spun down another trail, traveling alongside a stream going nearby, before leaping across to the other side of the bank, using stones peaking out of the moving water as footsteps. She was careful not to loose her balance, but figured that he wouldn't follow her over water. She was a fan of the classics, and most of them seemed to work, as far as she could tell. Most could never get past her gun for her to know what her victims fell for during her attacks.

As Damien followed her trail, more quickly in his anticipation, He began to hear the sound of running water. He approached the stream and smirked, wondering if she thought it would work, that he wouldn't be able to cross running water. As he quickly manuevered his way across the stream, his hyper-sensitive ears caught a noise, a rustling sound that was faint and getting fainter. An amateur might have thought it was an animal. But he was trained to know where his prey was. He knew the steady beat of footsteps. He knew he was getting close. If he were to get closer, he would be able to hear her panicked breath. Closer still, and he would be able to hear her racing heartbeat just before he pounced. He began running as fast as he could, he was almost there, her blood was almost his.

Lynee trusted her instincts, and grasped the hilt of a knife hidden in her sleeve. If anything popped out from her surroundings, she was ready. She took another side-route trail and left her footprints until they were well-out of sight, looping around back to the original trail before doing the same with another trail, tracing her steps back before continueing on another. She was a fast runner, and her accuracy had few competetors in the world of hunters- a reason she was such a deadly foe to many a vampire. She ran at full speed on her toes, jumping over tree roots that got in her way, making her steps irregular as the trail got more gnarled.

Damien was no fool. Although he rushed forward in bloodthirsty anticipation of his prey, he didn't forget to one second that she knew what she was doing. He continued to follow her path, one half of his mind focusing on the sound of her feet, the other on her footprints, until he soon found the footprints split in different directions. He grit his teeth, growing more frustrated as he listened to her footsteps become harder and harder to discern from the sound of animals. No, he wouldn't allow himself to loose her. He cut through between the possible paths. From what he had heard, she seemed to have begun to do another zig zag pattern in the direction he was now going. Surely if he continued this way he would find more of her footsteps and he would have the right trail he needed. As he ran the trees he grinned no matter how fast she was, he was faster. All vampires were faster than humans, some slightly, and some quite drastically. It was usually only the ones who could only go around the same speed as humans wer4e killed by hunters. If he kept going on this new trail, going through instead of around her trail, he new he would catch up with her soon.

Lynee quickly left another forked trail of footsteps, before backtracking and hopping over a stone marking off a small embankment. She was careful not to splash the water as she waded down the side of the stream, stepping in shallow areas and stones as she made her way across. She was determined to not let that monster following behind her catch her. If it did, then it better be ready for a fight. She carried silver on her for a reason. Managing to get to the other bank with only getting her shins wet, she switched out her shoes for another dry pair in her bag and continued on, making two new forked trails along the deer paths she followed. She had to be close to the edge of the forest by now. It wasn't that thick of one.

As he continued moving through the woods as fast as he could, he began wondering just how far she would be able to go. Surely, by now she must be very weak, but she managed to continue running. He cleared his mind of his thoughts as he found what he had anticipated, more footprints. With his time cutting through her paths, he must be closer than ever now. He had been focusing on his hearing for a while now, and he could hear a stream. He knew he was chancing it a bit, but she was becoming sloppy, repeating the same thing was beginning to fall into somewhat of a pattern. So, he rushed toward the direction of the stream, cutting through the woods and ignoring her trail, determined to find and catch her.

Lynee stopped and hid behind a tree to catch her breath. She had been constantly running, and a little nap sounded like a wonderful idea. She slapped her cheeks lightly, making her snap out of her thoguhts. She couldn't do that. He would find her and finish her if she did. Her stomach growled, quickly making her start to flee again, palms wrapped around the silver daggers in her sleeves. That was sure to have been a dead give-a-way of where she was, so she had to move. Now.
