The tools used are only props. Or, as may be a better term for them, a crutch. They are not needed and the fact that you believe they are needed limits you. It hinders you and sets a boundary upon what power you have.
No tool is any more powerful than any other tool unless you believe it to be so, thus my toothbrush is as great as your wand.
The key to magick is belief.
What you believe you can not do limits what you can do. What you believe you require limits what you can do without that object. A truly powerful spell caster needs no tools, speaks no chants, and abides by no limitations.
