I just realized all my CG stuff are little doodles, so I decided to do a big Photoshop project for a change.

Here's a thumb of the lineart I did today:

So now I just need to think of a colour scheme.

I know the background is going to be black, with a magical aura radiating around the girl. I'm just not sure what colours her outfit/hair/etc should be. :/

Suggestions?

The colours you choose should depend on the type of magic the elf is creating. Like if it's elemental, then the colours should all relate to the element. If the magic is just a general sparkly useless magic, then just choose a base colour and colours that match in clothes, skin, and hair. Make sure that they don't clash with the background, but still stand out.

Yeah, I'm trying to find a good colour for the magic. Do you think her pose/clothes/etc relay a more passive/cool or active/warm colour? I was thinking a purple theme might be nice but I'm not really sure...

Allright heres what I say, make her clash with the background, so she stands out. The magick should be flashy, maybe a strained looking reddish orange with a bit of white to look like its really heating up, and then on her use dark blues blacks and and maybe some purples.

If you want to go for purples, I think yellow would be a nice colour to use with it. Yellows fading into oranges and reds. Hmm... and perhaps a hint of green to highlight a few of the brighter spots.

Added a bg.

For now the magic is blue, but I can change it anytime. I do think it's a nice shade, though.

Very Nicely done! I like it alot! I'm working on something similar, using the lining on Adobe.

Yeah, I'm currently working on an illustration, I'll show as soon as I get it done. I do alot of character art, since I tend to draw that alot.

well, your in photoshop. so if you put the individual colours on seperate layers you can chop and change them if you make a bad choice or if u wanna see what other colour schemes would look like. just go the hue/saturation pannel mrgreen
