Quote:
I intend to run this guild as freely and liberally as possible. Libertarianism is a wide tent and I expect this guild to mirror that. As long as you follow the rules and can engage in civil debate you will be allowed to participate, member or not.

so feel free to join

Who this guild is for:

- libertarians (civil, left, right, Catoite, Rothbardian, Reasonoid, whatever)
- liberaltarians
- classical liberals
- minarchists
- Anyone interested in learning more about or discussing any of the aforementioned things.

Quote:
Who this guild is not for:

- Tea Partiers who wear fanny packs and believe Obama is a secret Muslim.
- American "Constitutionalists" who think the 14th Amendment doesn't count.
- People who think Ron Paul "is the Thomas Jefferson of our day."
- Git 'er done Southern Confederacy apologists.
- Xenophobes
- Paleoconservatives
- Anyone who thinks Glenn Beck is smart and/or insightful.

this is a topic
Quote:
Do you consider yourself an environmentalist? How does it fit into your libertarian thing?

I see humans as just another species; a mass extinction event of simple biological origin. The balance that can only be upset by human activity is a myth. Extinction is par for the course, and any action taken under the pretenses of 'conservation' that does not involve building huge spaceships and leaving with everything is a waste of time. The whole thing seems to be largely motivated by selfish subjective value judgements.

That said, I think people should do whatever the ******** they want at all times. This includes becoming attached to presently existing species and pulling sweet manuevers. I consider myself an environmentalist in the loosest terms you'll let me, and I allocate my own money accordingly

the question is a good one but the answers scare every fiber of my body

Quote:
Much of libertarian argument relies on the concept of individuals consenting to contracts, behavior, etc. It's easy in today's context to qualify statements by saying "two consenting adults," but what about children in "Libertopia" and how would they be treated? Would they be considered individuals at birth and therefore have the right to refuse, say, vaccinations? Or would there be an acknowledgment of the underdeveloped nature of being a child; that is, that children - often enough to make the generalization about them - tend not to be cognizant of what they need to know in order to make such decisions and therefore become lawful adults at some designated age? Finally, children are, presumably, the ward of their parents but does the state have any rightful power to intervene and make a value judgment regarding the treatment of children?

I agree with some Libertarian positions, but this guild is just too big of a tent lol. I could not qualify to join; too many important issues up for alternative thought in my opinion.

Libertarian in the most basic belief system is
free market, free people

It's based completely on individualism. Under libertarianism there's;
-Separation of Church and State
-Abortion
-Same-Sex Marriages and/or Unions (whatever heterosexuals have)
-No Labour Rights
-No FCC
-No FDA

it's all about shrinking the government to be the bare minimum of protecting the borders, and that's it, everything else is up to individuals.

@Commander - Obama is not a socialist. Obama is for a larger welfare system and more labour rights for the average worker, but he is no where close to being a socialist.

I was a Communist for three years. I shifted into Fascist too. I know EXACTLY what Obama is. He is EVIL, and COMMUNISTIC, and VERY MUCH FASCIST.
