First off, I may ruin your childhood memories. I'm sorry if I do.
Second off, don't google it. At least not in image search, and with safe settings off.
Third off, anthropomorphic beings. i.e. "half human half animal"
Notable examples include Sonic the Hedgehog, Star fox, Crash Bandicoot, etc.
Fourth, once you actually know the fandom(or at least the extremities of it), you'll see why it's embarrassing to draw a furry.
Fifth, again, I'm sorry if I've ruined it for you, even though I've hardly explained it.

I can do that. I knew that stuff had a name, but I didn't know that until now. I draw Sonic characters all the time, mostly my own fan characters.
