What genre music for musicians

What genre can you put Bjork or Kate Bush in? Pop or even "other" doesn't seem right for them. Please suggest what other genres they can be put in!!! xp

oh and please tell about other musicians who seem to surpass the general ordinary hip hop, pop, rock, rap, etc. genres.

Bjork is only weird because a lot of what she does is triphop.

David Bowie is pretty versatile, but most of what he does falls into some sort of rock category, sometimes venturing a bit into the more pop side of things and sometimes a bit into the more bluesy side of things. But what exact genre to define him as really depends on the song/time period.

Yeah, Bjork is pretty triphop. Some say experimental, but I'd say triphop. David Bowie is pretty much pop though, if you ask me.

As for others, if you like Bjork you may want to try some entry-tier triphop, like Portishead.

Well, Bjork is kinda triphop. She takes more elements of it and makes it her own thing. That's why a lot of people say experimental, but the triphop thing is pretty relevant through a lot of her songs.

Kinda like The Gorillaz. They're kinda triphop, but not at the same time.
