My friend is gonna get wed next year, she likes listening to classical and instrumentals like I do...

Hope you could recommend some song or piece that can be played for either for the reception or ceremony smile

And how much do you think it will cost for musicians like violinist or pianist (not DJ)

Please forgive me.........

For the reception, I think String Quartet #17 In B Flat, K 458, "Hunt" - Minuetto by Mozart
or
Cassation In D, K 100 - 3. Menuetto by Mozart
would be very lovely pieces to be played.

Congratulations on your friend's marriage too!

This is probably overused but...

Air--Bach
Prelude no.1 in C major (BVM 846) --Bach
String Quartet in G, K 156, W.A. Mozart, Presto

but I don't know how much it would cost to hire a musician. maybe find a close friend who could play?

congrats to your friend!

Händel - Concerto Grosso Op. 6

There are 12 of them. All of them beautiful.

Meditation from Massenet's Thais.

And as for cost, you should really just ask around and see how much musicians in your area are charging.

I reckon Tchaikovsky Sleeping Beauty Apotheoses should be a part of every wedding ceremony. The scene in the ballet itself is also a wedding ceremony.

The ones by Wagner and Mendelssohn are too commonplace. I get sick of hearing them all the time.

hmm. i mostly listen to melodramatic neo-romantic contemporary chamber music, and i don't think that is apropriate for a wedding, but steer clear of pacobel and wedding marches. it's so cliche. Hiring a quartet is always romantic, but make sure they are good. at my cousins wedding, the quartet was AWEful! it was painful to listen too. For music choice, i would choose some 20th cent. tango's and walzes for dancing. a transcription of Debussy's children's corner would be fantastic for the ceremony.

Depending on whether you hire a single or group of musicians, the skill of the musician(s), how many pieces you ask them to play, how long they're for, I'd say you're likely to pay £100 minimum, or even more if you're willing to pay for more.
It can add up quickly: say you wanted three pieces from a piano trio, each member wants £40 a piece, that adds up to £360, so I'd go for a soloist like a pianist.
Sorry but I can't think of any pieces off the top of my head but I hope you find something really nice. c:

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to look at the last post date. Hope I'm not dragging up too ancient a thread. >.<
