Hello, I'm alive! I haven't been on here for ages, decided it's time I better.
So, you know, mini top hats are so awesome. And cute. And I've got a thing for them. Actually, I like most things lolita style. They're also quite expensive (I should know, I've bought two). But I gotta have them. So, I decided to try making one a few nights ago. Went online, and found a pattern. Although I'm going to try to make my own, I don't like how it turned out.

So, pictures!!!

These are my store-bought ones, I want to make some that look like them.

#1 (a year old, kinda worn out)

#2 (got it in may)

The stuff I used: really really stiff felt. I don't like the idea of using the sticky felt, when you cut it there's a noticable line in the middle.

Note: that part cut out is all it took to make one hat.

The hat (my prototype)
Hand-sewn. This is my sad attempt at the pattern I found online. I forgot to straighten out a line in the pattern and it came out funny-ish. Not too noticable when its on my head, though.

Next up, to decorate it!

With:

and a whole slew of other stuff. And a glue gun. I'll take pictures.

BIG must-have. For anything.

White hemming lace. Old. Good for practice, you know?

Couldn't think of much else. I don't really like the shape of the hat.

User Image

No, I haven't put a clip or ribbon on it, it's just sitting on top of my head.

Blah. Might give it to my sister.

That's really cute! I do know that Michael's craft store often has tiny felt hats in various shapes that might work as bases for you. They're in the "doll and bear" aisle and are usually less than $2
Keep up the good work! If that's your first one, I'll be really interested to see what you put together once you've worked the bugs out of your pattern mrgreen
